[Also released as: "Year 2889"]

Paul Petersen (Jeff of "The Donna Reed Show" and the teen idol who sang the amusing rock hit "She Can't Find Her Keys") stars in director Larry Buchanan's rehash of Roger Corman's "The Day the World Ended".

He didn't manage to improve it, but it does have a memorable monster. A small group who survives a nuclear holocaust take refuge in a remote valley.

Buchanan also directed "The Eye Creature" and "Zontar - The Thing from Venus" . . . so beware.

Better yet, listen to Paul's amusing song!
Cool

IMDB has 6 trivia items for this movie. Here’s a few of the ones I found the most interesting, in the blue text. Very Happy

~ After the success of their earlier motion picture Master of the World (1961), American International Pictures had planned to make another film based on a Jules Verne story, In the Year 2889.

However, this project was later shelved.

A few years later, when Larry Buchanan was given the script of AIP's earlier film Day the World Ended (1955) to remake, a new title was needed. Since AIP had already registered the In the Year 2889 title, it was tacked onto the Buchanan film.

Note from me: Ummm . . . that sucks. Rolling Eyes

~ AIP gave director Larry Buchanan the script for Day the World Ended (1955) to use for this film. The result is an almost line-for-line remake.

Note from me: Just what we needed — a bad movie which is a remake from the rotten script of the first bad movie. Sad

~ Shot in 16mm and color and used to pad out one of American International's television syndication packages.

Note from me: Just what we needed — a glorified home movie which was made just to give local TV stations crappy stuff to fill their time slots. Rolling Eyes
