Something that has puzzled me is Brack's seeming turnaround in his attitude toward Earthlings once he's aboard the saucer. On Earth he was a regular misanthrope. But on the saucer he's all smiles. Happy to be going home?

Either that or Exeter finally got tired of his whining about the Earthlings and placed HIM under the Thought Transference Chamber!

Eadie, that is a great theory! I love it! Very Happy

That explains it for me.

Hey, that gives me an idea for a scene that would occur right after Brack tried to zap the heroes. Exeter comes in and catches him at it. They argue, then fight, and Brack knocks Exeter unconscious.

He has a cohort help him carry Exeter to the thought transference chamber, planning to put him in it and then take command of the Metalunans.

Exeter wakes up right after Brack's cohort leaves, and he forces Brack into the chamber to use it on him instead. Then he orders the new Brack (aka Mr. Congeniality) to the ship and they lift off to abduct the Earthlings in their aircraft.

It would be a tense and exciting scene, allowing the audience to cheer for Exeter when he defeats Brack.

The great Dave Cockrum, best known as one of the creators of the "new" X-Men, did this sketch for a planned Aurora series of Fifties monsters kits that sadly never saw the light of day:

Three years ago my old friend Jim Peavy posted this picture on Facebook of Rex Reason at a convention, when Jim met him. I'm not sure when the picture was taken, but Jim is 53 now, so this was probably taken at least 20 years ago.

Check out All Sci-Fi's gallery which displays Jim's fine artwork at The Art of Jim Peavy.

From Andrew Kidd's posting of Oct 29, 2016...

I'm unsure what effect that's supposed to represent in the movie; the pants become grafted to the legs down around the ankles?

Judging by the artist's exclamation ("But no cuffs?! Change texture about mid-calf?"), he was as puzzled as I am.

As you can see by this closeup the bottom of the pants seem to be part of the leg.

OR....They seem to end "mid calf" where the pants blend in to the leg.

I never realized there was a visible "end" to the pants legs at mid-calf, but the costume designer seems to have wanted this fact to go unnoticed!

However, surely the designer didn't mean to suggest that the Mutant's carapace physically merged with his pants! And yet, as Wayne pointed out, the note doesn't say the pants "end at mid-calf", it says they "change texture at mid-calf".

But Gord is right, there is a barely visible hem at mid-calf, and there's none of the visible veins above that point.

There's certainly no doubt, however, that the Mutant's wardrobe was well coordinated with his "skin tones" — proving that despite being an ugly brute, he had a keen fashion sense! Very Happy
