This is a great demonstration of "relative motion".
Three guys toss a ball back and forth — but they aren't standing on the ground, they're falling through the air.
And what they're tossing around is a bowling ball.
The science behind this stunt is more complex than you might think, and the scientists have a ball explaining it.
* Ah, come on, don't leave without adding an encouraging reply! _________________ ____________

When I was a kid, streamers usually proved to be better than parachutes for returning my Estes rockets to Earth. Parachutes could be carried very far away by wind while streamers allowed the rockets to come down more quickly, but still safely. |

Ah, I recall those days too!
I remember we went to a large open park and launched my best Estes rocket. My son and I watched it streak into the sky and gently come down on its' parachute as it disappeared behind a grove of trees.
We ran to recover it, only to find that it had come to rest in a used car lots locked enclosure! It being a Sunday we were unable to get it, but still it was so much fun! |

Ever wonder what would happen if you built a model rocket based on the Cosmostrator from First Spaceship on Venus? Such a beautiful design must be aerodynamically sound! Right?

Then again . . . maybe not.
