More good-natured adventure with the men from U.N.C.L.E. (Robert Vaughn and David McCallum), spliced together from several episodes of the series.

Vera Miles and Maurice Evans co-star as (respectively) the owner of a dress shop and a politician who seeks a rejuvenation formula. Sexy Yvonne Craig (Batgirl) provides nice scenery. James Doohan ("Star Trek's" Scotty) makes a guest appearance. Directed by Darrell Hallenbeck.

Vera Miles blinks whenever she fires her gun.

Robby's head dome/"mouth" is recycled yet again. (Time markers 0:49 and 0:58)

I think this is actually just part of a Bill Malone replica, one of the copies which showed up in episodes of Columbo and other shows during the 1960s.

Not only are the neon tubes absent, the right-and-left edges of the thin framework in their place is flush with the area on each side, whereas Robby's tubes are noticeably recessed (see 2nd picture below).

The head is resting on a silver ring that bevels inward on the low side, whereas Robby's "torso" beneath the head has a narrow region at the top which is convex.

Also, the framework in place of the tubes does not curve upward as much as Robby's neon tubes. They continue the line of the arc formed by the grooves on each side, and the ends of the "blades" in the framework line up with those grooves.

Robby has more neon tubes than the number of grooves on the sides, so the tubes and the grooves don't line up.

Bud, the date of 1966 should tell you that Bill Malone didn't make this. It is a spare unused Robby head, but Robby did wear it in "The Twilight Zone" episode where it had a bucket-like head in it. I do believe that Bill, now William Malone also owns this head.

He also owns Robby's Atomic Car, which is awaiting restoration.

David.

Perhaps you're right. The Wikipedia article about Robby includes this info.

Malone was able to carefully restore the robot prop to its original condition using additional spare parts which the original builders had stocked in Robby's stage cases some 25 years earlier. The original Robby the Robot remains in Malone's collection as of 2015.

I'm puzzled, however, by the statement that Malone retrieved the spare parts from storage 25 years after Robby was built, which would be 1981. That's when Malone restored the original Robby. And the same article says Malone built his first replica of Robby in 1973.

So, was the head we see in the U.N.C.L.E. episode taken out of storage in 1966? If so, why are the voice tubes not part of the head, and why is there a "framework" in that area which is significantly different in several ways than Robby's voice tubes?

Study the screen shot carefully and you'll see that Robby's neon tube had no such frame in front or in back of them.

Bud, if you look to the right of the photo besides the head, that clear plastic piece is from the inside of a "Forbidden Planet" blaster rifle. They were used on a few props on TMFU. When they sold the rifles in the MGM auction, I wonder if they had bothered to put the tubes back in the rifles?

David, I'm so impressed with your keen eye and you extensive knowledge of Forbidden Planet!

I'd never gotten a really good look at the glowing slots along the sides of the blasters, and I didn't realize that plastic the rings you spotted in the U.N.C.L.E. episodes were inside the body of the rifle.

I found several great pictures of detailed replicas of the rifles at Monsters in Motion.

The pictures below show the clear plastic rings inside the rifles.
