Wow, what about that wacky year 2003, eh? It was the year of less-than-perfect movies, with several controversial films, and several outright disappointments.
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was ambitious and imaginative — and yet not overly popular with fans of the genre.
The two Martrix sequels worked their butts off to equal the original, but it was a tough act to follow, and some folks were disappointed.
The third Terminator movie was entertaining, but compared to Cameron’s masterpiece it was a little like a kid brother trying to hang out with the big boys.
Timeline was a good movie that cost $80 million, but it only made $44 million — which meant Hollywood called it a bad movie. Tinsel Town has skewed values, but that’s why movie making is called “Show Business” and not “Show Art”.
The second X-Men movie in the franchise was the Golden Boy of 2003, earning almost four times as much as it cost, along with good reviews from professional critics who don’t really know a bit more about movies than the rest of us, but they get paid for their opinions none-the-less.
