WHY they'll probably never be one. I found this video by accident. What do the members think?

The Real Reasons Star Trek 4 was Cancelled, and where does the franchise go next?

Eadie, this is amazing! Shocked

Even though the video is fast past and difficult to follow, the gist of the message is that Star Trek has become a horribly complex legal issue, and ownership is now in the hands of so many different corporations that each version we see is required to look significantly different from the previous productions, resulting in what we've thought to be "stupid mistakes" by the producers.

This horrible legal mess has prevented all the recent Star Trek movies and TV versions from conforming to the traditional elements we all want to see. What we thought was deliberate changes caused by ego-driven directors and producers who wanted to produce THEIR version of Star Trek has actually been the desperate efforts of today's filmmakers to avoid the legal maze which requires none of the productions from looking too much like the jealously protected elements of former Star Trek productions — all the way back to the exact dimensions of the original Enterprise! Shocked

Which is why the Enterprise in Star Trek (2009) looked so different from all the ones prior to it!

So, the bottom line is that Hollywood's insane legal entanglements have ruined any chance that we'll ever see a Star Trek movie or TV series that comes anywhere close to the look of TOS.

As Shakespeare said so long ago...."The law is an ass..."
