Stick around after The Big Bang Theory's series finale to watch the show say goodbye to itself.

CBS announced Monday that after The Big Bang Theory finale on May 16, the network will air Unraveling the Mystery: A Big Bang Farewell, a half-hour special in which stars Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco take viewers behind the scenes of the longest-running multi-camera comedy series in television history. In the special, Galecki and Cuoco will take fans on a trip down memory lane, sharing backstage secrets and their favorite memories from their 12 years on the show, as well as leading a tour of the show's iconic sets — if you've ever wanted to know what's behind the apartment building's broken elevator door, maybe tune in for this.

The retrospective will air Thursday, May 16 at 9:30/8:30c, after The Big Bang Theory's one-hour series finale at 8/7c and Young Sheldon's Season 2 finale at 9/8c.

Stick Around! It gets even more Interesting!!!

Season 2 Finale Will Feature Baby Big Bang Theory Characters

https://www.tvguide.com/news/young-sheldon-season-2-big-bang-theory/?rss=breakingnews

The Big Bang Theory fans won't have to mourn the loss of their favorite characters for too long after the series finale, because immediately following the closing episode, Young Sheldon will introduce the whole lineup as little ones!

That's right — TV Line reports that the Young Sheldon Season 2 finale, which directly follows The Big Bang Theory's final bow, will introduce wee versions of Leonard, Penny, Howard, Raj, Amy, and Bernadette, long before they grow up and become the geek squad we know and love from the CBS sitcom's parent show.

The Big Bang Theory and its spin-off previously crossed over earlier this season in The Big Bang Theory' episode The VCR Illumination. When Sheldon (Jim Parsons) was down and out about a theory gone wrong, he turned to an old video tape of the very prescient Young Sheldon (Iain Armitage) offering up a nice pep talk.

The Big Bang Theory's series finale will air on Thursday, May 16 at 8/7c on CBS, with Young Sheldon's Season 2 finale following at 9/8c.

Young Sheldon is available to stream on CBS All Access.

(Disclosure: TV Guide is owned by CBS Interactive, a division of CBS Corporation.)

The Big Bang Theory Amy's make-over:

Anthony Albany as the King of Sweden:

Amazing that they not only got permission to use the king but one who looks remarkably like the real king, His Royal Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf:

Dr. Sheldon Cooper and Dr. Amy Fowler-Cooper, Nobel winners:

Raj's "plus one" Sarah Michelle Geller TV's Buffy the Vampire Slayer:

The Wolowitz Kids. Halley played by Sailah Nicol & Michael played by Nate Ash:

Young Sheldon. 8 Year Old Leonard played by Isaac Harger:

4 Year Old Penny played by Quinn Aune:

9 Year Old Howard played by Ethan Reed Stern:

5 Year Old Bernadette played by Aj Coggeshall:

9 Year Old Raj played by Rishabh Prabhat:

11 Year Old Amy played by Lily Sanfelippo:

In the retrospective we found out that Howard's mother (played by Carol Ann Susi) was in every episode — as a picture on the refrigerator:

The only mystery NOT solved was Penny's maiden name!

It is possible that Penny's maiden name is "Hennessy" after her character in 8 Simple Rules where Katey Sagal — along with Jack Ritter — played her parents (Katey Sagal was her mother in The Big Bang Theory). 8 Simple Rules [originally 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter for the first season] was on ABC and The Big Bang Theory was on CBS, so there were legal reasons for not being able to use the name "Hennessy".

In my own mind "Hennessy" is good enough since both Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady were apprentice writers on that show.

The 8 rules Are:

1): Use your hands on my daughter and you'll lose them after.
2): You make her cry, I make you cry.
3): Safe sex is a myth. Anything you try will be hazardous to your health.
4): Bring her home late, there's no next date.
5): If you pull into my driveway and honk, you better be dropping off a package because you're sure not picking anything up (Addebdum: Only delivery men honk. Dates ring the doorbell. Once.)
6): No complaining while you're waiting for her. If you're bored, change my oil.
7): If your pants hang off your hips, I'll gladly secure them with my staple gun.
8): Dates must be in crowded public places. You want romance? Read a book.

These 'rules' (actually guide-lines) work for meEadie!
