The link doesn't work.
Favorite robot: the one from Lost in Space
Least favorite robot; any terminator
Favorite robot line; 'We have made men into machines; now we will make machines into men!' Professor Rotwang in 'Metropolis'. _________________ "God is not worried about the 21st Century. He knew it was coming." T.Shawyer |

The link to the robot bird thread above needed to be fixed, so I did.
With all due respect, my least favorite robot is the top-heavy Robby wanna-be from Lost in Space. Even though both robots were designed by Bob Kinoshita, it just proves that great artists can have good days and bad days.
I'm not a professional artist, but my idea of a good robot design is more like this.
But I think we both agree that the robot from Metroplis is awesome! _________________ ____________

Love the concepts of robots in film and on television.
Robby, Tobor, B~9, you name 'em and I've enjoyed seeing 'em.
Always thought that the robot in the Judge Dredd movie with Sly Stalone was an awesome if nasty piece of work. |

Robby is my favorite. I also liked the robot stevedore from "Earth II", where it's head and body could operate independently.

To be fair, I'm sure the Lost in Space robot was created on a much smaller budget than Robby. To me, the LIS robot looked like Robby's poor relation.
I've always had a soft spot for the robot John from the Russian flick Planeta Bur (Planet of Storms). He looks a bit clunky, but solid and built like a brick you-know-what. Is Russian robot -- strong like bull!

I'm a fan of John as well. He was carefully designed to make him look like a machine, not a man in a suit.
He does things that demonstrate his mechanical abilities, like rotating his upper torso repeatedly to wind a cable around it and pull down a massive tree to make a bridge, and carrying two men on his shoulders effortlessly across a lava flow!
Да, Джон сильный, как бык!
(Yes, John is strong like bull!)
