NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter captured an image of a strange chevron on the Martian surface that looks similar to the symbol for "Star Trek's" Starfleet, an organization of space exploration, diplomacy, research, defense and peacekeeping.

Hmmm....Maybe Starfleet has beat us to Mars!

Perhaps it is a time anomaly from Star Trek: Voyager's 2nd season episode Lifesigns marking the future location of the Utopia Planitia base? Doug Drexler with the model of Utopia Planitia base original picture:

Enhanced picture:

As seen in the episode:

Close-up:

Time travel is so strange (just ask Doctor WHO)!

Great pictures Butch!
We'll have to wait a few years to find the truth!

BUT reality can be stranger than fiction!

I'm not sure why, Butch, but whenever you "enhance" a picture, you just make it look washed out and blurry. Sorry, but that's been true with all the pictures you think you're improving.

Your first picture above of the miniature and the man behind it looks fine. But you're "enhanced" version is pale, less colorful, and fuzzy.

The "enhanced" version might look better to you, but not to the rest us. Sorry, Butch. Sad

Just for reference sake, does the picture below look better or worse than than the one you posted of the matte painting? (This is a different painting, but it's also the Utopia Planitia base.)

All I did for the first picture was to brighten it. The others were exactly as I found them on Google.

The first picture didn't need to be brighter. Your second picture (the "enhanced" picture of the model) looks washed out. Does it really look better that way to you?

Forgive me, Butch, but your idea of "enhancement" is to remove the contrast. You don't need to do that for the rest of us. We like it with the proper contrast.
