Resident Evil, Ghost In A Shell, Alita, and other films based on Japanese characters don’t sell as well in the USA as in overseas markets. Any thoughts as to Why?

While manga and anime fans are familiar with these characters they are mostly unknown to most of the movie going public.

That’s sadly true.

Thank you for the insight. I was having a conversation with a friend about this the other day. It’s a shame there isn’t a bigger audience for these movies made into live action in the USA. Studios make a big effort to make sense of an anime with a story that makes sense in this country and pick big names in the industry to help promote them. The few of us who watch these films enjoy them.
