Dorthy Catherine Fontana (March 25,1939 ~ December 03, 2019) has passed away after a brief illness at the age of 80.

DC was a writer, story editor for many TV shows over her impressive career.

She wrote some of the finest episodes of Star Trek: TOS and was instrumental in developing the Mr. Spock character and the Vulcan culture.

Land Of The Lost & The Wild, Wild West were two more genre TV shows she also wrote for in her wonderful career.

That dear lady will indeed be missed. She was probably wise to go by "D.C. Fontana" rather than Dorothy Catherine Fontana, considering how sexist the industry was back in the 1960s (and maybe still is). Of course, the only folks who weren't aware that she was a woman were those who saw her names in the credits.

She sold her first story, "A Bounty for Billy", for the series The Tall Man, and her initial work was credited under the name Dorothy C. Fontana.

Wikipedia has a fine acticle about Ms. Fontana.
