TODAY’S TOPIC: I know we’re all disappointed by boring nature of the planets in our solar system. Absolutely NONE of them turned out to be like the versions portrayed in popular fiction! Sad

H.G. Wells told us Mars was populated by murderous Martians! Ray Bradbury described an ancient race that we managed to destroy!

C.S. Lewis described a watery world with an amazing ecosystem on Venus. Edgar Rice Burroughs convinced us that there were Pirates on Venus.

And yet, Hollywood didn’t neglect Venus when it cranked out imaginative movies about the planet named after the Goddess of Love. In fact, there are almost as many Venusian voyages as Martian ones!

So, ponder the puzzles below which describe sci-fi yarns about Venus — and then add your own amorous replies to the threads about the Planet of Mists!

After all, THIS was the Venus of our youth! Wink

Journey back with us now to the Venus we imaged when we were young and in love . . . with science fiction. Cool

He came to visit us in peace and with good will! But his name was NOT Klaatu . . .

Their flight plan listed the fourth planet as their destination. They only missed it by . . . two planets!

This Venusian was a stranger in a strange land. (Italy, to be exact.)

No one would deny that the scenery on Venus ever looked better!

These space explorers discovered a Venusian civilization . . . but just a bit too late. Sad

We always hoped there would be strange creatures on Venus . . . and we got our wish with this one.

The Venusians got tired of waiting on us to come visit, so that sent weird flying creatures to Earth.

Who would complain about a movie with dinosaurs AND beach girls? (Well, the Russians probably didn’t like it . . . )
