Okay, so that's the SCIENCE. Now let's add the FICTION!

The idea here is that the machine begins sending signals and receiving signals to itself or other machines, anytime from the moment it is first activated until anytime in the future that a machine like it is operating.

It can't "talk" to the past, therefore, because there was no machine in existence, prior to it's first moment of operation. In this respect the concept is the reverse of the one presented in the movie Time Cop, which maintained that time travel into the past was possible, but not into the future because, and I quote, "It hasn't happened yet."

But if this guy does build a machine that can communicate with itself in the future, we've a got a real-world situation like the one so well presented in the movie shown below.

If you haven't seen it yet . . . well, there's no time like the present.
Wink

Unfortunately it looks like the only form of "time travel" to the past may be only entwined quanta.

Since it seems quantum particles only really exist upon observation, it has been thought that by a process of quantum entanglement the arrow of time "may" be able to run in reverse.

Thank you, Gord!

And your post confirms my long-held theory that you're really Dr. Sheldon Cooper. Laughing
