Look for the kid in the white T-shirt about half way in. He created this using a video game console, his own programming and an overhead projector!

I wish we could contact him and invite him here.

This is a great idea. Harbor planning, Terraforming, using computer sensors of your ship to map a planet; the list is almost endless!

What else can you think to do with it?

Okay, lemme get this straight. A kid started with a sandbox and he rigged up a computer projector directly overhead that shines an image down onto the sand which maps the high and low areas, just like a topographical map with elevation lines and color coding.

And the computer reacts to changes in the contours of the sand the moment they're created by people as they stir their hands around in it . . . sort of like what God did during Make a World Week on the Discovery Channel.

Here's the video from the above article (with no audio for some reason). Wait 'till you see the landscape in the sandbox suddenly have CGI water flowing in the handmade river the man creates.

Who needs drugs when we've got mind-blowing technology like this to play with? Shocked

An ancestor to the holo-deck perhaps?

Well, certainly a variation on the concept of computer generated realities! Cool
