[Also released as: "Dangerous Charter"]

Some of the best movies have mediocre poster art. Some of the worst movies have excellent poster art.

And some movies are so bad the producers didn't give a crap what the poster looked like. This is one of those movies.

This is a retched sci-fi cheapo that had to be narrated because the director actually lost the soundtrack after the film was completed. The story is supposed to be about two alien monsters that attack a group of swingin' teens at Lake Tahoe, but the feet of the people inside the shapeless "monsters" (which looks like squirming carpets) can be seen as they move it around.

The victims do an unconvincing job when they wiggle into the monsters' mouths, pretending to resist.

Directed by Art J. Nelson, aka Argyle Nelson, aka Vic Savage -- who is also the star of this epic!

This movie is soooo bad — ("How bad. Johnny?") that even MS3K couldn't save it!

You know, this movie might be better than my research lead me to believe. (I haven't actually seen it.)

First of all, this monster looks far better than the common "wiggling carpet" description so many books use!

And any movie with a monster that eats pretty girls and shows off a nice set of legs in stockings and heels while doing so can't be all bad, right?

If I had carpeting that looked anywhere near that bad, I would promptly have it ripped out, had the house fumigated, and hardwood flooring installed.

Well, sure, a hardwood floor is easier to keep clean -- but this carpet is obviously a chick magnet!

It sucks two limber young honeys right into it at the 50 minute mark in the Youtube video of this movie! Cool

And the scene is downright erotic when you think about it . . .
Shocked

I liked the screaming girl at 51:06. At least I think she was screaming. She didn't look too sure herself.

Did you look closely at the man and woman who just stand there in the middle of the gym and watch the poor girl-hungry creature lumber closer and closer — and then the woman actually steps up to it so it can eat her!

I swear it looks like the gentleman is politely escorting her to the creature's maw so HE can help her inside. (And yet they say chivalry is dead, eh?
Very Happy )

Ah yes, this is among the beloved turkeys of the CHFB.

Personally, I won't endure it unless it's the MST3K version.

I even started a thread on it on the ol' CHFB for it. Look for "Creeping Terror or the Invasion of the Man Eating Carpet Sample"

I'm hoping to get 20 pages of posts. Fat chance.

I also happen to be a "leg man." It's just that I'm not into women being eaten -- literally.

I'm pretty sure the women aren't "being eaten — literally." Wink

If those scenes were disturbingly realistic depictions of humans who were being devoured by an alien, I'd be less aroused by it. But since the "victims" are just shapely actresses with elevated fannies and attractive legs, making unconvincing attempts to look like they're being eaten while they wiggle their way into a silly monster prop, I enjoy the spectacle.

To be fair, however, these two humorous recreations below of the monster eating two lovely ladies are somewhat longer and a little disturbing. (But still damned erotic!)

____________
An extra low-budget mess hampered by added problems, such as a missing soundtrack — hence the narration to try and fill in all the gaps.

The plot: an alien spaceship (actually stock footage of one of our rockets going in reverse) lands, disgorging a walking carpet-type-of-killer alien onto the countryside.

The very slow-moving creature gobbles up plenty of young folk who forget to run (or to just walk away fast). There's another creature left inside the spaceship.

The main protagonists are a couple of local deputy sheriffs, a scientist, and a squad of soldiers. This actually has a warped kind of documentary feel to it, but is just too plodding and beyond ridiculous. Similar to Monster a-Go-Go (65).

Creeping Trivia:

~ Some unexpected flashes of nudity at the 49-minute mark.

~ During the film's centerpiece, when the monster invades a local dancehall, some guys inexplicably begin to fight among themselves. One of them rips the top off a lady, exposing her breasts for a second. This was probably unplanned.

~ MST3K ran this as one of their episodes:

1080p copy, but probably upscaled:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AH__S32xh0U

If you decide to download it and would like to avoid the squishy image (e.g., the movie was probably in 4:3 or TV picture format and was stretched to wider screen), I'll give instructions to fix that in the Off-Topic Discussions section.
