Yesterday, Trekriffic and I spoke on the phone for about an hour and agreed to find a batch of good movies on YouTube that we could share on Wednesdays and Saturdays with Gord Green and Phantom in the All Sci-Fi's Chatzy Room. (< — LINK)

Today I collected fifteen features that I think might present some good choices for our movie-loving group! Very Happy

If you've never joined us before, perhaps a few of these features will tempt you. I'll be sure to post the choice we make for tomorrow night, whether it's from my group of movies or a group that Trekriffic discovers.

I think that since you and I approve of the ones on the list above, we should let Gord and Phantom select the one for tomorrow night and another one for Wednesday.

Hopefully there will be a few they're both enthusiastic about. Cool

UPDATE!

The votes have been cast, the electoral college has made their decision, and those blithering idiot Republicans have been told to go screw themselves if they try to interfere with THIS election! Shocked

All Sci-Fi's Saturday Live Chat (<— link) will start with chapter 6 of Flash Gordon, Space Solder, starting at 6:00 EST.

Flash Gordon (1936) Space Soldiers - Serial Marathon Chapters 1 - 13

__________

Our feature film, by unanimous decision, will be (drum roll please.)

________________________Charade (1963)

__________

This "Hitchcock-like" thriller stars Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn, with a wonderful score by Henry Mancini.

At 8:00 we'll all tune into Svengoolie on MeTV to share The Leech Woman, which just happens to be on the list of features I included in my previous post! Cool

Phantom, Trekriffic, Gord, and I will be grateful to anyone who drops in — however briefly — to say hello to our dedicated little group of synchro-cinema chatters!

The Leech Woman?

Didn’t see it on the list.

I see The Wasp Woman though.

I saw The Leech Woman as a kid...

and she’s no Wasp Woman.

Ah-ha, you're right! I goofed. Embarassed

I was going to take it off the list if we watched it on Svengoolie's tonight, but since he's showing The Leech Woman, I guees The White Anglo-Saxon Female Person can stay. Laughing

With all those nice suggestions I posted above, I hope we can choose the features for our next Wednesday and Saturday chats this weekend!

I love to make new posts about our upcoming chat features — the way I did today for Charade (<— link) and Svengoolie's show tonight featuring The Leech Woman (<— link) . Very Happy

I'd like to invite the members of our growing Chat Pack to joln me in boosting the anticipation for our synchro-cinemas by posting their own comments on the upcoming features!

As a wise man once said, "Better than the deed . . . better than the memory . . . all those delicious moments of anticipation!"

Phantom called me yesterday with a great plan to streamline our Wednesday and Saturday chats!

He suggested that we should determine which of the movies I've suggested for the chats would "fit" within the regular Saturday time slot.

This is because on Saturdays we sandwich the feature film between our Flash Gordon serials (which run about 20 minutes each) and the 8:00 pm airing of Svengoolie's weekly feature on MeTV.

Phantom determined that the movies with running times over 1:40:00, combined with a 20 minute serial chapter, won't work well during All Sci-Fi's Saturday Live Chat. (<— link)

With that in mind, I've listed the running times of each of the movies below. I was pleased to discover that only six of the fourteen movies were too long for the Saturday chats, so these will have to be watched on Wednesday! Very Happy

That means there are eight that CAN be watched on Saturdays, along with the serial chapters and Svengoolie.

Gord Green, Phantom, Trekriffic, and I continue to hope that some of you folks will join us from time to time.

And if anyone finds other YouTube movies they'd like to recommend, please post the links on this thread. Cool

Come on, guys! Shocked

Tell us which movie you'd like to watch this Saturday!

Phantom and I watched Capricorn One on Wednesday because our other Chat Room colleges were too busy to join us. Sad

However, Phantom and I are hoping that Trekfriffic and Gord Green will tell us which movie we should watch this Saturday!

As soon as I know, I'll let you folks know!

this may be a bit too new for you guys, but I'd love to chat on it with you; how about Event Horizon?

I know for a fact it's available to stream somewhere.

Thanks for the suggestion! If you can locate a safe way to download it, please let me know. I've become very wary of those sites since they cracked down on them a few years ago.

Meanwhile, can you join us for one of the YouTube movies listed above?

I haven't heard a word from the other guys yet, so you can recommend any of the ones labeled as "Wednesday or Saturday", because their lengths will fit between our Flash Gordon Serial and Svengoolie (at 8:00 EST Saturday on MeTV.)

We'll be starting at 6:00 EST.

I didn't want to vote because I probably won't be able to make it this sat.

If I can...at least in part...I'll jump in where ever you guys are.

UPDATE!

All Sci-Fi's Saturday Live Chat (<— link) will start with chapter 7 of Flash Gordon, Space Solder, beginning promptly at 6:00 EST.

Flash Gordon (1936) Space Soldiers - Serial Marathon Chapters 1 - 13

__________

Our feature film was suggested by Trekriffic, and since there were no objections, the motion passed! Very Happy

____________ Jason and The Argonauts (1963)

__________

It's considered by many fans to be Harryhausen's best film. And even though that's a bit of apple-and-oranges in view of of the unique quality of each one, this one definitely knocked my socks off in 1963!

If you're not interested in watching our feature film with us this evening, I'm sure you'll enjoy the new post I made for Jason and the Argonauts on that movie's thread here. (<— link)

However, if you ARE interested, we'll need to observe a strict starting time of 6:00 EST so that Flash Gordon's chapter 7 (located at the 1 hour 48 minute mark on the YouTube video) will conclude by 6:30 and we'll have time to complete Jason and the Argonauts by 8:00.

At 8:00 we'll all tune into Svengoolie on MeTV to share The Beast with Five Fingers! Cool

It's a unique horror movie with an exceptionally creepy premise — the disembodied hand of a dead man crawls around like a spider and conspires with Peter Lorre to avenge the death of the hand's owner! Shocked

Here's a sample of the bone-chilling special effects, which feature a remarkable example of how much "acting" a disembodied hand can actually do!
Shocked

________ Peter Lorre in The Beast with 5 Fingers

__________

Phantom, Trekriffic, Gord, and I will be grateful to anyone who drops in — however briefly — to say hello to our dedicated little group of synchro-cinema chatters!

The feature for Wednesday 1/13 has been decided! We're watching a beautiful copy of Crash Dive from YouTube! Very Happy

This is an action-packed WWII submarine adventure in glorious TechniColor — released in 1943 from 20th Century Fox — stars Tyrone Power, Dana Andrews, and Ann Bancroft! Very Happy

Wednesday we'll begin at 4:00 EST — 1:00 PST for West Coast members like Trekriffic — along with chapter 2 of Captain Marvel. Then we'll watch Crash Dive.

If you love submarine movies and superheros, Wednesday will be a real treat! Cool

___________The Adventures of Captain Marvel

_________

YouTube labels this video as 1943 CRASH DIVE TRAILER, but it's actually the entire movie, with a fragment of the film which begins after the movie completes.

The running time of the complete movie itself is 1:46:00, which is just what IMDB states it should be.
