Do the stars represent the member planets that comprise the UFP? Does the color of the flag represent anything at all?

I think it represents something cheap to design and easy to have made. Laughing

It looks more like a banner than a flag to me, and they tend to be simpler than a flag.

As for the color, NBC was big on promoting color on their shows, so bright colors was the order for the sets and costumes.

I never minded this one! In fact it shines when compared to Plato's Stepchildren, which was a hot pile of horse manure in comparison and Whom Gods Destroy!

I can't say I regard Whom God's Destroy in quite the low esteem as you, Johnny.

After all, it put our noble captain in a very precarious position. He was at the mercy of a raging madman who overacted outrageously (which is the biggest flaw in the episode).

But it also treated us to Yvonne Craig (Batgirl) in a revealing outfit, with her shapely body painted green all over (Oh, be still my foolish heart . . . ) while she danced around with enough skill to aggravate the acne of all the teenage boys who saw this episode in the late 1960s. Wink

The final comedic scene shown below ends the story on funny note and puts most of America in a good mood for the next show they watched that night on January 3, 1969.

I'm not really disagreeing with you, Johnny — I'm just pointing out a few of the merits in one of TOS' less popular episodes. Very Happy

The idea that Melvin Belli wasn't an actor is kind of funny when you consider that he was a top attorney. A top attorney is also a good actor.

David, I suspect your comment is based largely on the strong talents of Raymond Burr and his dazzling courtroom performances.

I don't actually know any more about the subject that you do — but of course, that won't prevent me from saying that my opinion of lawyers in court rooms is that they simply debate legalities by quoting statues and legal precedents, and then the judge decides whose argument looks the best on paper. Rolling Eyes

As far as their acting talents with their clients are concerned, I'd rate those on a pair with used car salesmen . . . because they both have the same personal agendas!

In short, lawyers aren't actors . . . they're just con men with college degrees.
Very Happy

Obviously my comment was irrelevant, immaterial, and incompetent. Sad

The Honorable Judge Morris Ankrum rules in your favor!
