Here's what's on today's manu.

An action packed sci-fi adventure in an aquatic post-apocalyptic world, a dark comedy in a post apocalyptic world, and (in my opinion) a somewhat dull sci-fi movie which could use some of the more "fun" elements of the other two!

Seriously, does this trailer excite anybody?

Waterworld (1995)

Opening Statement: IMDB has quite a few very interesting trivia items for this production.

~ It is rumored that director Kevin Reynolds and Kevin Costner had a huge squabble over the film, resulting in Reynolds walking off the project and left Costner to finish it. Reynolds was quoted as saying that "Kevin Costner should only star in movies he directs. That way, he can work with his favorite actor and favorite director".

Note from me: Gee, Mr. Reynolds seems to be just a bit bitter.

A Boy and His Dog (1975)

Opening Statement: IMDB has several interesting trivia items for this production.

~ One of the reasons the film now enjoys cult status is because of its blackly comic last line. Ironically, Harlan Ellison hated this and actively campaigned to have it removed.

Note from me: Harlan is kind of a prima donna. The line perfectly fits both the characters and the movie itself.

~ Michael Crichton was invited to take a tour of "Universal Studios" during the production of this film. His guide was none other than Steven Spielberg, who went on to adapt Crichton's most successful novel, "Jurassic Park (1993)."

Note from me: Steve was 25 years old at the time. I can just hear the young man saying, 'Gee, Mr. Crichton, do you think I might make a move from one of you books someday?"
