The Mist (2007)

I simply LOVED the ending!

I had read a synopsis of this a while back, and caught it on cable but still really enjoyed it. It has some typical King stuff in it, but otherwise a good terse movie.

I don't understand Darabont's thing about black and white, however. The same thing was done to at the very least, the first episode of 'The Walking Dead'.

Changing and showing something shot in color into black and white is not the same thing as shooting it in black and white to begin with. Shadings are not the same, lighting is not the same. I don't know if he is thinking that black and white enhances the suspense or what . . . but it's not going to look like something such as . . . 'Night of the Living Dead'.

World War Z (2013)

Watched it and found it a pleasant passage of time.

Is it a good movie? Wellll . . . events happen too fast for there to be any time in the movie to do any logical thinking.

Some huge holes in logic . . . like when the things start happening and people are being bitten and turning in . . . what city was the opening in? Boston!

Anyway . . . where did all THAT start? And HOW?

Metropolis as seen on BBC/PBS in 70s

This was the first version of Metropolis that I saw in full. I was really struck with the more modern sound effects that had been added and thought that they really helped the movie.

Only saw it once, until now that is.

I think a lot of silent films and early talkies could do with an upgraded sound package. Ok, maybe not try and add talking to silent films...but sound effects might not be bad...and to those films that ARE talkies..especially the ones dealing with the first World War....upgrade the sound effects please.
