__________

Wikipedia has practically no info about this film, which appears to be a TV movie that (according to the "trailer" below) was released theatrically in 1981 and aired on NBC in 1982.

I've never seen it (and I'm not overly tempted to), but you'll find a link below the trailer to a YouTube video which has the full movie.

Surprisingly, all seven of the user comments on IMDB (click on the link) praise the movie for being enjoyable and underrated!

Unfortunately not one of them explains why both IMDB and the poster list the "tagline" as, "A very spacey comedy!" Maybe it has something to do with the green monkey dangling from the saucer in the poster. Rolling Eyes

When a family of aliens is stranded in the Midwest after their spaceship crashes, a kind innkeeper takes them in. Their peace is threatened by a government agent who wants to be assured that the aliens cannot intermingle with humankind.

The IMDB summary starts out with this amusing description of the plot.
_______________________________

A spaceship carrying a middle-class alien family breaks down over a small town in America, and the "space window" allowing the aliens to return home will disappear in a few hours. Parents, Zef and Lara, their children, Dalem and Teva, and their green chimpanzee hide the spaceship at the bottom of a lake while they search for the special metal necessary to repair it. Although their chimpanzee is green and eats light bulbs, the alien family looks human . . .

One can't help but wonder just how we know the alien family is "middle class". Maybe they were a "rich" alien family. Heck, the might have been a "poverty level" family, which is why they crashed in their clunky old saucer.

And I wonder if Arthur C. Clark was ever tempted to write a story about green, light-bulb-eating chimpanzees. After all, the story possibilities are practically limitless! Shocked
