Note to all Trump supporters: This is just a story idea inspired by recent news events. Please treat it as such if you add reply and don't' fuse at me for seeming to criticize Trump. I'm just a brilliant writer!

I'm not a left wing radical.

That said, here the fun stuff. Very Happy

What if an extremely ambitious and unprincipled president secretly accepted millions of dollars from foreign governments because his financial empire was deeply in debt? The poor guy would be in deep shit! Confused

In a desperate effort to solve his financial problems, he runs for president just to enhance his public image and increase the value of his real estate and private ventures.

During his energetic and controversial campaign, this charismatic man pitches himself as a bold "rebel" who will take on the undeniable corruption and greed of Washington politics.

But his strategy is unexpectedly successful . . . and he actually wins the election! Shocked

This victory feeds his huge ego to such an extent that he believes he can actually do all the outrages things he promised during his campaign — thus increasing his popularity.

But secretly he uses the power of the presidency in unscrupulous ways to enrich himself, hoping to eventually get out of debt.

Naturally he is careful to hide the true nature of his poor financial condition, including a refusal to release his tax returns to the public — something which his predecessors have done for decades!

However, towards the end of his presidency his popularity declines, partly because he grossly mishandles a tragic national emergency and causes thousand of people to die. In addition to this, public opinion declines, because his egotistical nature includes a habitual predilection for making self-aggrandizing statements which are blatantly false. Sad

And yet this charismatic man retains the loyalty of his political base, those poor misguided people who cling to the false notion that he "cares about them" and he is "working to improve their lives" — neither o true.

However, as election day draws near and this man fears that he might not retain his presidential power, he fears that after he is stripped of his exalted presidential status, the consequences of his actions over the last four years will be disastrous!

He knows that the new president will replace all the corrupt cronies which the former president placed in high government positions. The new president will install honest men who will reveal the misdeeds of the former egotistical president, and the ex-president will face legal action that might land him in prison.

Furthermore, all the debts he owes to foreign governments will cause him to be divested of the properties which bear his name!

The question is this: what can this unscrupulous man do to avoid loosing his wealth and his status — as well as going to jail! Shocked

The only option open to him would be to flee the country. But he knows that the American justice system would have him extradited from any country he went to . . . except one.

Russia.

However, it this ex-president made a bargain with Russia to tell them all the secrets a president would possess, Vladimir Putin would provide him with a lavish lifestyle in return! And if this ex-president already had an suspiciously close relationship with Putin, this would seem to be the natural solution to the terrified ex-president's problem.

Add to this the fact that the Russians would score a tremendous diplomatic coup against the United States by boasting that a former president had to flee the U.S. "to avoid unjust prosecution for crimes he did not commit".

Guys, since I began this post by stating that it's just a story idea, I'm sure you'rel expecting me to offer a satisfying climax to this epic tale! Very Happy

That said, here it is.

A skilled team of military commandos in black-ops helicopters sneak into Russia in the dead of night. They take out the Russian sentries around the lavish complex where the ex-president resides, and extricate him!

I imagine the scene like the opening of Air Force One, when a combined Russian-American special forces operation captures General Ivan Radek, the dictator of Kazakhstan, and puts him into a Russian prison.

The big difference here is that a corrupt American ex-present is being snatched from a Russian compound so he can be taken back to America to stand trial for treason!

Ya gotta love the irony here! Cool

Would this make a great movie or what? Very Happy

Interesting. Allow me to offer an alternative ending Bud...

Ignoring the advice of his own health officials, the recklessly corrupt president personally refuses to wear a face mask and ignores social distancing protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic. He foolishly holds large campaign rallies, some in states teeming with the virus in order to create turmoil and promote his self-serving political and social agenda. Eventually he and the First Lady come down with the virus with the presidential election only weeks away. The president and First Lady quarantine, he survives but just before Election Day the First Lady succumbs to the virus. Shortly after receiving a phone call from Vladimir Putin, ostensibly expressing condolences for his loss, a “distressed” and “grieving” president mourns the death of his wife and tweets that her last words were that she hoped he would win and prevent the “evil socialist agenda” promoted by his opponent from spreading so America could continue being great for all “freedom loving” Americans.

Riding a wave of public sympathy from his supporters and independent voters over the loss of his “beloved” First Lady, the president is narrowly re-elected to a second term.

Of course this is preposterous, pure fiction. A horror story for some.

It could never happen in reality...

Or could it? Shocked

Steve, your great scenario demonstrates that truth can be stranger than fiction. Confused

As I said at the top of my post, I was just spinning a yarn which which was inspired by recent news events.

But your chilling conclusion sounds entirely possible! I believe that if the lovely First Lady passed away (God forbid!), a wave of national sympathy would indeed cause President Trump's poll numbers to rise significantly.

The recent news has certainly produced a bumper crop of amazing events which could be incorporated into stories that are rich with political intrigue!

Thanks for applying your awesome imagination and writing talents to my whimsical premise. Confucius allegedly said, "May you live in interesting times", and it's actually a curse which defines interesting times as a period in history filled with mishaps and disasters!

Let's keep an eye on the news and see what events might provide ideas which would enhance our story about a fictional president who is not TOO much like the president — out of respect for Trump supports.

By the way, CNN anchors just mentioned several news reports which claimed that Russia wants Trump to win, but China and Iran wants Biden to win!

I chuckle every time I've heard this, because my whimsical nature makes me to wonder if Russia's efforts help Trump win — combined with China/Iran's effort to help Biden win — might just cancel each other out!

So, could that cause us to end up with a "relatively" fair election? Very Happy

I don't claim to be a professional writer, but why not keep it simple and just have him abducted by aliens and shot into a black hole?

Oh my, that would certainly be a happy end, eh? And if this were done as a parody, the black hole would spit him back out with a loud "paw-tooey!" Laughing
