Being born in 1948 has given me a unique perspective on life. I've lived through the Golden Age of Science Fiction (the 1950s), the Space Age (the 1960s), the Disco Era (the 1980s), and all the other decades I can't think of fancy names for.

I grew up idolizing the black 'n white Superman, envying the low-budget Rocky Jones, Space Ranger, and skipping the Junior Prom to see The Day the Earth Stood Still on a local station.

What I'm saying is that if I was thrilled and inspired by THOSE . . . and yet had not been thrilled and inspired by THIS movie . . . I must have died somewhere along the way and don't even know it.

This movie offers more drama, more excitement, more intelligence, more imagination, and more sheer beauty in 2 hours and 21 minutes than all the beloved movies and TV shows I grew up with.

Wait, hold on now, don't get me wrong! Shocked

I'm not saying it's better than all those. I'm just saying it's a pure concentration of what the best of the old efforts did so well. And if anyone else doesn't feel the same way about this movie (and many of the others that have come out in recent years), then they're either too young to appreciate them . . . or they've let themselves get old, jaded, and dead inside.

My condolences to their widows.
Sad

Recycled. Right. Name three movies with this plot, Butch. Don't restrict yourself to this decade. How 'bout . . . ever.

Or even two.

Oh hell, I'll settle for one. Rolling Eyes

But remember, it has to have an awesome team of superheroes pitted against an evil robot with artificial intelligence the heroes created themselves, which then turned on them and tried to wipe out mankind.

And that's the short version. I left out a lot. Wink

Try The Avengers (2012). The main alien invaders, the Chitauri, are basically robot-like worms.

LaLaLand has been recycling ALL the super hero movies for decades. Why else do they keep re-telling the origin stories?

By now the target audience knows them.

Oh, I get it! All these movie have heroes and villains and conflicts! So, they're just recycling the same plots over and over.

My apologies, sir. I stand corrected. Cool
