A western I can watch repeatedly.

Paul Newman stars as John Russell, a white man raised by the Apache Indians in the late 19th century.

The movie was written by Irving Ravetch & Harriet frank, Jr., and based upon the Elmore Leonard novel.

The entire cast is sensational in this superb movie.

Love this movie. Very Happy

MY favorite line by Newman is when he says to Rchard Boone, "Hey, I got a question. How you gonna get done that hill?"

Watch that great moment in the video below at 1:31:55. Very Happy

Bud, this film is packed with rich dialogue.

Some of my favs are:

Jessie Brown after describing the marble headstone made for John Russell's deceased adoptive father.

Jessie: Well, what do you figure yours is going to read?
Russell: 'Shot Dead,' probably.
Jessie: Don't people take to you, Mr. Russell?
Russell: It only takes one who doesn't.

And wasn't Russell's description of what his headstone would say eerily prophetic?

Russell: Kid, you got one thing to do, watch him. If he tries to leave, you shoot him once. If he tries to take the saddlebags, you shoot him twice. If he tries to take the water, empty your gun.

Favor: You're not a man to command much confidence, Mr. Russell, what if we choose not to follow you?
Russell: Then they have you to show them the way home.

Love films and TV shows that have such delicious dialogue. Told a friend who loved the Star Wars movies, that while I also enjoyed them, the dialogue throughout the franchise rarely was outstanding. Just very prosaic.

In Hombre, every character has some great dialogue moments. It's a film with many fantastic quotes.
