This is a short, dark comedy film that my wife wrote, produced & directed for MTV. She won a national contest MTV and Amp'd Mobile phone did way back when they were a newer thing. It was originally a few minutes longer but had to be butchered to "fit" on a cell phone, so some things aren't as clear as they should be.
The contest was to pitch a short film idea to MTV and win up to $10k to make the film. The executive producer and rest of the MTV staff were impressed enough they wanted her to pursue it as a series of connected shorts (one might say a telephonic universe!), but Amp'd went out of business as they were editing the film, so it came to nought. Too bad, we had some really funny stuff planned.

Tim, please tell your incredibly talented wife that I can't imagine a short film being more skillfully produced than hers was!
The ending is just perfect. That damn ticket would float around from one greedy person to another — each one become the next unfortunate victim, like a communicable disease running through the population!
If you and she have any more videos to share, All Sci-Fi would be proud to feature them.
P.S. I have a crush on the blond. Wowzer . . . _________________ ____________

I did props for it and wrote the twist ending. Continuing the "saga" would have been a hoot.
The second one would have picked up with the coldblooded hit-man...who lives with his domineering grandmother until he finally breaks. He tells her off and storms out of her house raging about how he doesn't need her bullying anymore and that he's rich, then gets hit by a bus. It was to end with the bus driver finding the ticket stuck in the front grill. _________________ "Have you never wondered what it would be like to walk between the ticks and tocks of Time?" |

The shocking "speeding vehicle smacks a person unexpectedly" packs a punch every time. And it's been done ofter enough to be an effective joke now, not a tragic accident — unless it hits somebody adorable like Reese Witherspoon or Cameron Diaz.
Of course, if a bus hit Tom Cruise, the bus would stop instantly and be totaled, but he would just be a bit dusty . . . _________________ ____________
