Watching the most recent episode of SG was very exciting due to the future story potential for the series.

Courtney has vowed to rebuild the Justice Society!

Could SG evolve into a show about a superhero team similar to DC's Legends of Tomorrow? I'd love to see the series go in that direction.

So, What Are DC's Stargirl's Plans for That Green Lantern … ?

https://tvline.com/2020/06/13/dcs-stargirl-season-1-green-lantern/

This week on DC’s Stargirl, Courtney Whitmore took a moment to regard the green lantern she collected from the OG JSA’s HQ. Is the superheroic artifact merely a fun Easter egg, or the seed for something more?

Earlier this year, the DC TV series Arrow made its own allusion to the Green Lantern Corps, though it was far more subtle. As vigilante John Diggle — who had long been speculated to be on track for Green Lantern-dom — was readying to relocate his family to Metropolis, a meteor crashed nearby, slamming him against a moving van with its force. Dig then combed through the debris to find a mysterious box, which, upon being opened, emitted a bright green light.

That scene, cryptic though it was, “was something that was worked out over a year ahead with DC Entertainment,” Arrowverse EP Marc Guggenheim explained. “We very specifically negotiated and discussed the parameters, and I feel like to say anything beyond what we have showed you would violate our agreement with DC.” (Note: HBO Max has an actual Green Lantern series in development via DC TV EP Greg Berlanti.)

Developed for the DC Universe streaming service, Stargirl thus far has been way more liberal with its mentions and glimpses of iconic heroes, both in flashbacks and during visits to the Justice Society’s headquarters. And though Courtney left behind Jay Garrick’s Flash helmet while looting the place in the name of a good cause, she did pinch Wildcat’s costume and cowl (which she promptly bestowed on classmate Yolanda), Doctor Mid-Nite’s goggles and Hourman’s hourglass (which figure into the upcoming Episode 5), Johnny Thunder’s “pink pen” (which she casually plopped into a pencil holder in her bedroom), and the aforementioned lantern.

TVLine asked Stargirl creator/series co-showrunner Geoff Johns if the show had any plans for an actual Green Lantern sighting. At first he politely deferred, “I don’t want to talk about that,” before affirming, “We have plans for the lamp, and a storyline for subsequent episodes.”

As Johns told ComicBook.com, “People want to say, ‘Oh look, an Easter egg of the pink pen or the green lantern,’ but those aren’t Easter eggs. Those are pathways to new stories. And … my hope is we get to continue to tell these stories with more seasons of the show. We’ll see. But everything leads somewhere.”

As far as which specific Green Lantern Corps member might come into play, Johns told IGN, “Jay Garrick [aka The Flash] and Alan Scott [the original Green Lantern], to me, are always the elderly statesmen. They’re the big heroes of the JSA, and their shadow is very long … . They are a part of the original JSA and their legacies will be felt throughout the show.

SG continues to impress and entertain the heck out of me.

You know you're being well entertained when an hour long television series seems to go by in half an hour and leaves you wanting more.

Is it a perfect CW superhero TV show? No, you can find its flaws here and there.

However, it is as fun as heck to watch and has some of the best characterization on TV.

I really enjoyed how they updated the Dr. Mid~Nite character.

Dr. M~N as created in the comics could see perfectly at night due to the specialized goggles he created. In the daytime he was blind.

He was a good fighter and had his dark bombs that he could use during battles.

Now with the charming Beth assuming the Mid~Nite persona they have done some serious and excellent upgrading.

The famous goggles are now an AI device. Beth interacts & becomes friends with Dr.Mid~Nite's AI.

The AI has numerous technological abilities such as detecting when someone is lying, in-depth analysis of other hardware & various objects, projecting complex holograms, recreating past events, a vast data bank of information on just about any topic you can name.

That's all we know so far, so who knows just what other mechanical miracles the goggles can perform in time?

This all makes Beth one of the most powerful agents of the new Justice Society of America even though she does not possess superhuman powers of any kind.

She possess a device that can convey an immense storehouse of knowledge and analytical intel to her.

And as we all well know, knowledge IS power.

News for Season #2 of DC's Stargirl }

On the season ending episode we see Cindy Berman ( Meg DeLacy) holding a black diamond & peering into it saying "I see you, Elipso."

Eclipso is an extremely powerful DC Comics super-villain of supernatural origin.

Abilities include : Superhuman strength, stamina, speed, invulnerability, flight, energy-vision & blasts, possession of humans.

This will be a frightening entity of immense power.

Cindy may well be in far over her head if she thinks Eclipso will be hers to command.

That depends of course if Eclipso will be adapted as he is from the comics to the TV show.

He has never been done in live action before, so this will be a first. He has a nasty looking countenance from the later version of the character in the comics.

In the comic books he's responsible for the deaths of Wildcat II as well as Dr. Midnite.

Solomon Grundy will return next season.

Thunderbolt's Pen that Courtney has on her dresser will be pivotal in season 2.

Background : Thunderbolt has had no less than 3 different origin stories.

One is that the pen houses a genie, a Fifth-Dimensional imp named Yz.

Yz has vast magical powers and can fly.

Yet another origin story has Thunderbolt as an energy-based alien with energy powers and flight.

Just which way the SG TV series will go is anyone's guess.

Dr. Midnite's owl, Hootie, may appear.

We briefly saw Hootie when Courtney was first exploring the Justice Society headquarters this season.

Enjoy this entertaining show's first few second season episode.

SPOILERS!

The appearance of Jade, Green Lantern's daughter, was exciting. Turns out she is immensely powerful. The GL must use his power battery to charge his GL ring. Jade IS a living battery flowing with the GL energy. She's potentially more powerful than her father.

So some mechanic shows up at Pat's garage to work part-time. He discovers Pat's super armor S.T.R.I.P.E. and proceeds to make modifications to it with a flame thrower!!!

G'mon Pat! You have zero security to the room where you store your armored robot. Anybody can wander in. And BTW, its also the same room you meet with Courtney and the rest of the JSA to plan operations and have them train.

How about some door locks at the very least!?!

Why is Pat so wishy-washy about letting this unknown mechanic just show up and work on the armor? Unbelievable.

Thunderbolt, voiced by comedian Jim Gaffigan, shows up in the magical pen Mike uses.

Amusing. However, if they continue with the silly schtick antics of Thunderbolt. This is gonna wear thin real fast.

He also appears to be so powerful that it'll be difficult to come up with villains to defeat him. Although the Shade pretty much kicked Thunderbolt's keister in their first encounter.

Liking the Shade. The actor playing him does a really fine job.

Beth and the team just gotta repair her Dr. Mid-Nite goggles. They are such a powerful asset for the JSA.

Could there possibly be another pair of these goggles secreted somewhere else? The old JSA headquarters?

And how come the new JSA aren't utilizing the old headquarters? The place must have superior security compared to Pat's garage. It may also have invaluable resources and intelligence information there.

Maybe a sophisticated computer system, too? A training room could exist there for the JSA to develop their respective skills as well as how to work together as a team.

STARGIRL, as predicted, has been cancelled with the show's final episode scheduled for December 7.

A new business organization purchased the CW Network this year. Rumors were rampant that it was going to divest itself of any and all CW Superhero TV series. And they did just that.

This is shame as SG is a very fun, entertaining science fiction superhero series with wonderful scripting and a terrific cast. They definitely had more than their 3 seasons in 'em regarding the ongoing adventures of the Justice Society.

It's time for a brand new TV cable channel folks. The SUPERHERO Channel. It would show all of the past superhero television series, as well as developing their own shows. Some could be original, others could be based upon the Marvel, DC, Gold Key, Charleton, Tower comic books and their heroes. The channel could do both live-action, as well as animated comic book characters.

It would be solely devoted to the comic books, with some original material of their own. And no company can buy them and then clear out the schedule and put on any non-comic book TV shows.
