I remember the episode clearly . . . except for why the Enterprise came to Flint's planet. Did he pose some sort of threat to the Federation?

Well, even if that were true, nukin' the poor guy would not be the kind of thing Kirk would do without a really good reason.

I like this episode, not the best but a high point of season 3.

Bixby wrote 4 TOS episodes, his best being "Mirror Mirror".

The biggest flaw with this episode is the characters "voices"
Fontana and Roddenberry (even Justman) were fanatical about keeping the characters true.

All were gone at this time to the tremendous detriment of the show.

The basic story is excellent, the execution is ok. This was Murray Golden's only Star Trek and that does not help things.

Bud, Kirk is very concerned for his ship and crew but there is nothing he can do to speed things up.

As I said, there is nothing in this episode that is bad. If
Fontana or Roddenberry were involved or Pevney or Danials
had directed this it could have been in the top ten.

Daly is outstanding as Flint, Sorrel is good also.

This is the last time we see the 3 foot Enterprise on screen and this episode was the last episode broadcast on NBC. Sept 2nd 1969.
