A friend of mine in the UK and founder of the All Scale Trek modelling forum, Alex (and his mother), is in pretty dire straights and has asked a few of the members of his forum for help.

I got Bruce/Bud's permission to relay Alex's message here in hopes that some may be able to extend some financial support no matter how small.

"My mother and I are being evicted after a long battle in the courts. We don't have the people and things we really need (e.g. friends, family, to help, savings, guarantor, transport etc) to make this work.

I've been unable to work for several years due to health issues and our credit is shot with only basic gov benefits to live on. More to the whole story but that's about as short as I dare to make it. We're not on social media apart from AST stuff and we don't have tons of online friends to bug, I just have you guys. You can donate if you want and/or share our story on social platforms.

Mum's GoFundMe page/story (there is no 'target' goal, because we need just about everything and it all seems to cost a ton)."

As many of you probably know, times are tough everywhere. Some of us on AST have donated what we can and I'm also trying to 'cast the net' as wide as I can on Alex and his mother's behalf in hopes that any relief that trickles in can grow. Like Alex, I don't live on social media and AST and ASF are pretty much my only "socializing", so I thank Bruce for allowing this post.

The fact no one seems to have a problem evicting an elderly man (who now needs a wheelchair) and his mother sickens me.

If you can help, even a small amount, please do.

Thanks.

Tim L.

Tim,

I tried to send some money with the paypal link and it wanted
too much info, My bank tracking info AND my credit card info.
Can you confirm that the links are correct?

I've used paypal many many times and never been asked for that.

That's odd indeed, Mark. I just made a donation with Paypal and it went right through. I can't understand why it gave you so much trouble. Confused

That's very odd. I did PayPal last week and it went straight through as well. I, too, would certainly be wary of entering any of that info. Confused

I verified the links and they are correct. Was the "One Time" button checked? I did mine via a prepaid debit card, maybe that's the difference?

And on behalf of Alex and his mother, thank you
Smile

Thanks, mach7. Obviously if you're still getting something odd or you're uncomfortable with what it's asking for, don't risk your own financial info security; just skip it.

I cringe a little every time I make an online transaction, myself.

Alex replied about the PayPal issue:

I have checked the AST and personal PayPal links and both seem okay to me...it should ask for basic information and that is only if you choose the option of using your bank/card without a PayPal account.

The three links to donate are:
AST donate link
https://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=CPFXK9N4T7CLG&ssrt=1681543606090

Personal donate link for me and mom
https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=C7GE2JQNCF9WJ

Mom's gofund page
https://gofund.me/e36ea42d

If they don't have luck with PayPal they can always try GoFundMe.

I also wanted to say a big thank you to those who have sent donations. I'm not sure if I said this already but it has been put to good use trying to give us a plan b in case we need to just up and leave sooner than expected.

Donations help. Spreading the word helps too if you're on social platforms and feel like sharing. Goods wishes also help.

Thanks again.
