I was very disappointed by this movie — especially since I was such a big fan of Mr. Emmerich's earlier movies.

But just to be fair, I recently noticed that the FX in the colossally boring "Deep Impact" were inferior to those in "The Day After Tomorrow".

For example, the tidal wave sequence in "Deep Impact" is a disgrace when compared to the one in "The Day After Tomorrow".

But the cast is good, and the concept is interesting. Al Gore was certainly impressed by it and urged everyone to go see and get real worried about climate change.

The effects in 'The Day after Tomorrow' were better than 'Deep Impact' but I thought drama wise, 'Deep' was better.

The whole thing about the temperature drop as it was portrayed was silly, for example.

As with most of the Emmerich disaster flicks (The Day... ID4..Godzilla...2012...) there is usually some humor that runs the risk of derailing the film.

That's a sticking point with a lot of folks — they seem to want a movie to be mostly funny or mostly serious, and if a film gets too generous with both, they feel like it's "sitting the fence" instead of giving them more for their money.

Me, I like the way Emmerich blends the two. Very Happy

Personally, I like it. I wrote a review on the CHFB, and though I did say it's cliche, I think it (mostly) make fine use of the FX.

I think I should watch this movie again.

My wife watched it just a couple nights ago. It's one of her "regulars".

What I liked about this movie is that it stuck to concepts that came from reading Greenland ice-cores. They show that an ice-age can come from climate collapse in less than 2 years.

So chill, if it happens you won't have time to run.

Bud, you will know it is happening when NC gets hit with a F6 hurricane.
