The model was lost for 40+ years, It's whereabouts the subject oh much speculation. Roddenberry said it was never returned after lending it to an effects shop in the mid '70s.

Well known Enterprise expert Gary Kerr thinks it's real.

While I'm no expert, everything I check seems to indicate it is the real deal.

The auction was stopped, rumor has it that Gene Roddenberry's son wants it back.
