This will come as no surprise to the folks here on All Sci-Fi, but I like to wet my whistle with the stuff shown below on a fairly regular basis. As the can clearly states, it's 5.9 acohol by volume.

Most beer brands are a wimpy 5.0%.

But please don't think that it adversely affects my fine science-oriented intelligence! And here's the proof. Very Happy

I don't consume this chilled beverage from either the cans or from glass beer mugs. To paraphrase the famous quote by Matt Damon's character in the Martian.
, "I'm gonna science the shit out this beer!"

The double-walled freezer cups I use are filled with a substance which looks like ice . . . but it neither freezes nor melts!

When these mugs come out of the refrigerator they remain below freezing for quite a long time — so long in fact that they actually freeze a significant amount of the water in the beer. This water quickly forms a slushy ice coating around sides of the mug!

Why dos this happen? Confused

Science, my dear Watson! Here's the explanation from a site I Googled. Very Happy

Water molecules are “stickier” than ethanol molecules — making it easier for water molecules to get “stuck” (i.e., freeze.)

In other words, water freezes at a lower temperature than the alcohol in beer.

When I finish all the beverage in the cup, I just rinse out the slushy ice that sticks around the sides before I pour the next beer! So, my freezer mugs are actually removing some of the water from the beer — but not the alcohol!

(Science! You gotta love it!) Very Happy

To be honest, however, this only happens for the first two beer-filled mugs — after which the magical ice-like substance in the mugs has warmed up a bit too much to actually freeze the water.

But even after that, the mugs still keep the next few beers plenty cold enough!

And I don't have to go the bathroom quite as often, because I haven't consumed as much water! Very Happy
