Home Sweet Homicide, released by 20th Century Fox on October 2, 1946.

Mystery writer Marian Carstairs is a widow who lives with her teenage daughter Dinah, younger daughter April, and son Archie.

When 2 shots ring out in their suburban neighborhood it's discovered that Marian's literary agent Flora Sanford has been murdered by an unknown assailant. Marian is quite content to let detective Bill Smith (Randolph Scott) and his partner solve the mystery. However, her 3 children have a better idea: they'll solve the mystery. After all, they have learned a great deal about murder mysteries & the police procedures from their mom and her many books.

This is a fun and entertaining little black-and-white movie with a good cast. For a change, we see youngsters embark on attempting to solve a homicide that took place on their street. There's plenty of humor to go along with some creepy moments.
