Richard Matheson wrote a sequel to this classic movie. It was titled The Fantastic Shrinking Girl. It is about how Louise Carey begins to shrink, and how she eventually links up with Scott.

At Freehostia.com, you can read Matheson's outline. Matheson was always befuddled that a sequel was not produced, since the Shrinking Man did very well at the box office & garnered some wonderful reviews.

I read portions of the script by Matheson, and I was surprised to learn that Scott's wife, Louise, became as small as Scott was at the end of the movie.

She received several treatments that were supposed to stop her from growing . . . and perhaps even return her to normal.

Hoping that Scott was still alive, she went down into the basement to look for him. Louis ended up going through the screen of basement window and into the backyard, where she and Scott were reunited.

However, soon after that, Scott and Louise noticed that the treatments he had received from the doctor finally arrested his shrinking . . . and he started to grow again, presumably because his own treatments had finally taken effect!

Interesting ideas, eh? Very Happy
