This Supergirl won't ever have a Spearsian mishap because her top goes all the way down. Someone above mistakenly referred to her pantyhose as a "leotard". A leotard is a one-piece top+pant such as ballet dancers wear. This is what the new S'girl is wearing under her skirt. A pullover top wouldn't fit so snugly all the way down. This type of garment makes sense for someone who's going to be moving her arms at all angles to lift busses and hold collapsing dams ups all the time. If you do that with a shirt on your shirt tail will be out all the time. This is CBS superhero, so she can't go too sloppy or racy. |

Well gosh a'mighty, that just takes all the fun out of it!
I was going to watch it in hopes of seeing some wardrobe malfunctions, but heck fire, I guess that just ain't gonna happen.
Oh well. I suppose this version of the costume is out of the question, eh?
Yep, that's what I thought. _________________ ____________

Yes, I ran across it earlier this morning. It doesn't look bad. They seem to have given it some of the CW Arrow/Flash-style updating. It looks like they made her back story look more like Superman's, though. I wonder if they'll have Argo City surviving Krypton's explosion in some way. Anyway, they've delayed the series' debut until November, which I think might be just a well, because it looks like they could stand to tweak it a bit yet.
BTW, my favorite variation of Kara's story is the one in the wacky latter day "Superman vs Aliens" mashup comic. She turns up as a tough urban monster fighter. You can read it online: http://englishfortamils.com/comics/index.php?album=DC%20Comics/Superman%20vs%20Aliens |

Well, heck, I gotta admit the new show does look like a lot of fun. I predict they'll change her costume at some point in the second season if they get enough fan-demands to do so.
I hope so. She still looks like a cheerleader.
But the tag lines are brilliant.
It's not a bird . . .
It's not a plane . . .
And it's not a man.

I was ho-hum about this new series. Then I saw the 6-minute preview & found it quite impressive.
She's adorable. Wish they'd dump the Devil Wears Prada aspect to the show though. |

Well, we've seen the long-awaited, much ballyhooed pilot of Supergirl, and I'd love to hear what everyone thought of it.
About thirty minutes before it started I got a wacky impulse and sent an email to everyone, inviting them to meet me in the chat room so we could talk about the show while we watched it.
No one showed up during the East Coast airing, but I was on Facebook with Bulldogtrekker, and we discussed the pros (a few) and the cons (a butt load) while we viewed the new series.
Fifteen minutes after the show was over I discovered that alltare was in the chat room and watching Supergirl in New Mexico, one hour behind my East Coast airing. I told him I had DVRed the show, and I'd synchronize the recording with his live broadcast so we could watch it together.
Alltare, Bulldogtrekker, and I were all less than impressed with the new series. It worked so hard to be action packed, fast paced, and amusing that it never once slowed down long enough to develop the characters and let us get to know them a little better!
Of course, we don't need any character development for Jimmy Olsen. We all know he's short, nervous, kind of goofy, and he provides most of the stories' comic relief.
The new series just made a few small changes.
Excellent casting, eh? Looks like Jack Larson's twin brother.
So, what did you folk think of it? _________________ ____________

Silly, pretentious, and loads of fun.
Only time will tell if this is a keeper. Most pilots these days are geared to the low mental capacities and poor attention spans of the network Suits. _________________ Common Sense ISN'T Common |

Certainly has potential amidst its weaknesses.
The special & visual FX were astonishing to behold. Real movie quality caliber.
Wouldn't the cast & crew of The Adventures of Superman be stunned by the $$$ for the budget of Supergirl,as well as what can be achieved with today's state-of-the-art technology?
Melissa is wonderful in the part.In spite of her alien superpowers she has a girl next door appeal.
Humble,enthused,kind,self doubts,all very human qualities.
Nice touch of Dean Cain & Helen Slater doing cameos as the Danvers.Hope to see much more of 'em.
Only one in the cast I do not care for is Cat Grant.
Conceited, cruel, its all about me. What's to like?
Saving the passenger jet was a terrific scene as Kara's debut.
The scene with Kara watching her Kryptonian mother give her cornball speech & Kara attempting to hug the hologram was cringe inducing.
The plot line of her star ship accidentally freeing up the prison ship & bringing what will be her alien foes to earth was not good.
The Flash already has that temporal anomaly explosion that has created both super powered heroes like himself,as well as super powered villains.
While that works fine for me,somehow this version of introducing villains for Kara to fight seems weak.
Would prefer to see her family crest S emblem on her uniform brighter. Like the one Helen Slater wore in her film.
Unsure if SG will = The Flash for my viewing pleasure.
But it looks to be a fun ride. |

But as usual, they made the chest emblem larger than I would have preferred. That's been the case on every Superman and Supergirl costume I've ever seen.
The one on the left is Helen Slater's costume as it was in the movie. The altered one on the right (which I just created) looks better.

* And I couldn't resist smoothing the poor girl's knobby knees out a little, too . . . _________________ ____________

I also prefer the smaller size S emblem on any super uniforms.
Thought George Reeves emblem was a decent size.
Chris Reeves and Dean Caine's were laughably large. |

Well, I've a big complaint about it. The show's content is fine and I'd like to watch it, but I don't think I will for awhile. The problem is C-frigging-BS, which is counterprogramming Supergirl against Gotham. Both shows are based on DC comics and obviously aimed at much of the same audience. So what does CBS do? They schedule her right against the Bat Boy. This is network programming evil at it's worst.
At the moment I've only got a single tuner for recording, so I have to pick one or the other. I skipped Gotham to see the 'Girl's pilot, but I think I'm going to go with Gotham hereafter just as my response to this network shinanagin. |
