Ben Affleck May Direct A 2018 Batman Solo Film Called The Batman
Germain Lussier, I09

When Warner Bros. hired Oscar-winner Ben Affleck to play Batman, it was pretty obvious they wanted more than his jawline. The latest rumor about the character is that Affleck both will star in and direct a November 2018 solo film called The Batman, written by Oscar-winning Argo writer Chris Terrio.

Latino Review posted the rumor, which remains a rumor until it's confirmed by Warner Bros. But the rumor, of course, makes perfect sense on every level and has been mentioned before.

It'll break down like this: Affleck will debut as Batman in March 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which Terrio wrote. He'll then appear briefly in August 2016's Suicide Squad and in a larger role in Justice League: Part One, out November 2017. Justice League: Part Two is currently scheduled for June 2019, which leaves an opening for more Batman. That's where this new film would come in. Terrio is also scheduled to write both Justice League movies, so the timing, and continuity, works.

Odds are a lot of this will get cleared up in San Diego next month as Warner Bros. is expected to make several major announcements regarding its upcoming slate at Comic-Con. One of the other new rumors is that the studio will have two Green Lanterns, one of which could be played by Chris Pine.

Affleck himself is a very busy man, but a November 2018 movie wouldn't really have to go into full production until mid to late 2017. That'll give him plenty of time to clear his schedule, some of which requires playing Batman again, however he sees fit. He knew what he got into when he took this role, though. As powerful and iconic as Superman is, Batman is the crown jewel of the Warner Bros. DC roster. Affleck's long term commitment was surely a major factor in the architecture of all its upcoming plans.

The questions then become: Will The Batman be a prequel? Will he face Jared Leto's Joker? The speculation never stops.

Oh, and if The Batman is released in November 2018, it'll be in competition with Marvel Studios' first female-led film, Captain Marvel.

Me oh my, there are certainly some serious plans to crank out a mess 'a superhero movies, ain't there?

When I was growing up in the 1950s and 1960s, nobody in Hollywood had the slightest clue that movies about people with weird powers and wacky outfits would one day rake in millions of dollars — just on the opening weekends!

Me oh my. Life's a funny funny thing . . .

By the same token, none of their imaginings of super hero movies back then included the justice that could be accorded them through the use of CGI. Comic books were still a better medium of visualization.

[I'm not so sure about this. — Eadie)

It was JUST announced that the new Batman for the DCEU will be Robert Pattinson (Cedric Digory in HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE; TWILIGHT)!

Just read and weep.

Filming Has Begun!

It’s been nearly three years since Zack Snyder’s Justice League gave us the most recent live-action version of Batman on the big screen. (Young Bruce Wayne in Joker doesn’t count). But today, the countdown to seeing a new version of The Dark Knight officially begins: Matt Reeves‘ The Batman has begun filming in London.

Jeffrey Wright, who is playing Gotham City Police Commissioner Jim Gordon in the new movie, tweeted the preceding message this past Saturday, indicating that the Robert Pattinson-led superhero film is up and rolling. Reeves quickly retweeted Wright’s message, and ComingSoon also points out a tweet from a local who has snapped some photos of a Gotham Action News vehicle, a Gotham Police car, and a Gotham Water & Power truck posted up on the streets of London. The photos themselves aren’t too exciting, but with this many talented folks assembling for this movie, their mere existence is enough to perk us up on an early January day.

Reeves has gathered a hell of a cast for this interpretation of the Caped Crusader’s cinematic adventures, starting with the downright fascinating choice to put Pattinson under the cowl. Zoe Kravitz is playing Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman), Paul Dano is playing Edward Nashton (aka The Riddler)

* Colin Farrell is playing Oswald Cobblepot (aka The Penguin), John Turturro is playing mob boss Carmine Falcone, Jayme Lawson and Peter Sarsgaard are playing undisclosed roles, and Reeves’ Planet of the Apes star Andy Serkis is playing Batman’s trusty butler and confidant Alfred Pennyworth. Reeves’ frequent collaborator Michael Giacchino will compose the score, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Zero Dark Thirty veteran Greig Fraser will serve as the film’s cinematographer.

Very little has been officially revealed about the movie’s plot, but early word suggests that it will take place early in The Dark Knight’s career – but not early enough to be considered an origin story. Reeves isn’t interested in remaking Batman Begins: he wants to return this tried-and-true character to his comic book roots as the World’s Greatest Detective in a noir story that involves multiple villains and sounds as if it may be heavily inspired by The Long Halloween, a 13-issue limited comic series in which Batman tries to learn the identity of Holiday, a mysterious killer who murders victims on one holiday each month during the calendar year.

The Batman is currently scheduled to swoop into theaters on June 25, 2021.

* Yes WE know that the Riddler is actually Edward Nigma. Wikipedia™ explains it thus at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riddler

https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/batman-actor-robert-pattison-people-133036875.html

The city of Gotham has a new hero: and he comes in the form of Robert Pattinson. On Thursday, Variety reported that the Twilight star will play the Dark Knight in Matt Reeves’ upcoming superhero film The Batman.

According to the media outlet, “while sources say it’s not yet a done deal, Pattinson is the top choice and it’s expected to close shortly.” With rumors that Nicholas Hoult may also still be in the running, Warner Bros has yet to confirm the casting.

At 33 years old, Pattinson will be the second-youngest Batman ever, behind Christian Bale who was 31 when he played the caped crusader in Batman Begins in 2005. And while some question whether Pattinson—who started his career in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire before becoming a teen heartthrob in Twilight—can handle such a dark role, others argue that his leading role in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming action film is proof that he can.
The debate over who would be the next to hold the Batman title has been going on ever since Matt Reeves, who’s best known for Planet of the Apes, took over as director for the new Batman flick following Ben Affleck’s departure from the franchise in 2017.

“I have loved the Batman story since I was a child,” Reeves told Polygon. “He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply.” The director also explained to Gizmodo that his take on the comic will be a bit different: “It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale… I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films.”

Unsurprisingly, Bat-fans have already started voicing their opinions, both for and against the all-but-confirmed casting of Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman. For longtime fans of Batman, this kind of backlash, defense, and general snarkiness is old hat.

The reality is, that every single time a new big-screen Batman is a cast, there will always be a vocal group of villains yelling about it. But, Michael Keaton was a great Batman in 1989, despite Warner Bros and DC Comics getting death threats over that casting. If anything, this role — not Cedric Diggory or Edward Cullen — could define Pattinson for years to come.

The Batman is set to be released in theaters nationwide on June 25, 2021.

They've still never done THE BATMAN right.

Just do the Clint Eastwood movie THE DEADPOOL with BATMAN as Dirty Harry and you have the right idea!

New Batman Set Photos Reveal First Look At Colin Farrell’s Penguin

https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/batmans-penguin-revealed-behindthescenes-photos/?utm_source=zergnet.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=zergnet_4761284

New year, same ol’ villains, am I right? While my personal demons are related to productivity and self-worth, I fear that The Batman‘s, while maybe similar, are much more sinister and tangible than my internal struggles.

The film is still is over a year away, but shooting has commenced as we saw last week with that cathedral set and now we’ve finally caught a glimpse of one of the bigger bads in Batman’s rogues gallery: the Penguin, as played by Colin Farrell, in what may be the first peek at the character to date.

As The Batman starts filming in London, leaks are sure to happen, and this one comes from a Twitter user who works directly in front of where the blockbuster is currently shooting. He snapped many a shot, capturing Gotham’s police force, news crews and quite possibly a blonde-dyed Farrell sitting menacingly in the wings.

Don’t believe me? Well, just take a gander for yourself:

{10 pics at site.)
