____

Pilot John Ericson is buzzed by a flying saucer which crash-lands in China.

The U.S. government sends a team into China to search for it, accompanied by Ericson and Dan Duryea. They join forces with a Russian team, and a romance develops between Ericson and Russian scientist Lois Nettleton.

Meanwhile the Chinese find the saucer and learn that the propulsion system has a lethal effect on spectators. The Russian-American team tracks down the saucer and battles the Chinese soldiers. Ericson and Nettleton survive, hi-jack the saucer, and take it on a whirlwind test flight around the Solar System.

The mediocre special effects rob the climax of the excitement it should have created, and the earlier parts of the story contain little to entertain science fiction fans. But that's not saying it isn't a good movie.

Written and directed by Frank Telford.

I really like this simple classic-styled saucer. And cool 1-way see-thru hull windows. It makes a perfect inter-planetary shuttlecraft. I wish the production had used a budget for a full-size mock-up, and a filming model.

I wish I could update the saucer with a new interior, and add an air-lock entrance, so it could be used undersea also.

Well, the Youtube version of his movie I posted here a few days is now gone. Sad

I'm hoping it's because the one I provided the link for had an audio track that didn't synchronize with the video. Perhaps the provider will fix the problem and uploaded it to Youtube again!

Let that be a lesson to members of All Sci-Fi. When someone provides a link to an interesting Youtube video, download the damn thing right away using Savefrom.net, because it might be gone the next day!

You don't have to watch it anytime soon, just keep it for future use. Hell, you can delete it a year later if you decide you don't want it! Shocked

The makers of this film put a lot of effort into trying to make an exciting science fiction adventure yarn. However they don't fully succeed because they try to cram too much into the film and the characters never rise above being little more than cliches.

It put me in mind of another Cold War movie, ICE STATION ZEBRA, which was more successful and had a better cast.

But in the end, the film does promote the message of the need for the world to unite, stop fighting and start building a better tomorrow. Deserves points for effort.

This synch is perfect on my rig.

Maybe stick to the scenes between 1:04 and 1:20?

Correction: It does go out of synch after the titles.

I've got this on Blu-ray!

I've always liked Lois Nettleton and it's fun to see old stalwarts like Dan Duryea, Vincent Beck and Bernard Fox.

Here's another YouTube member who has created Drive-in Double Feature videos which include a vintage drive-in "welcome messages”, the trailer for the movies, and a double feature

It even has those great old “snack bar” promos during intermission!

"So, get comfortable, folks! Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!" Very Happy

Enjoy!
