_______

Sequel to "The Misadventures of Merlin Jones", starring the same cast, doing the same lame sort of comedy that caused the great Disney name to become synonymous with the phrase "silly movie".

Because of movies like this, a "G" rating is now considered the kiss of death.

The predictable plot of this Disney fluff involves (A) Tommy Kirk's human-powered flying machine, (B) a device to help moronic football players pass examines so they won't miss out on playing moronic football games, and (C) a drug that makes people strong.

Directed by Robert Stevenson, who got saddled with practically all of these "comedies".

Of minor interest: This movie came out 12 years before the first real human-powered aircraft successfully flew.

Of extremely minor interest: Annette Funicello is credited mononymously as "Annette." When did she drop her last name and when did she get it back?

Oh, and in case anyone wonders why this picture is called The Monkey's Uncle, there's a subplot about Merlin Jones (Tommy Kirk) legally adopting a chimp.

WARNING: SPOILER!

The multimillionaire Darius Green III (Arthur O'Connell), who has offered to donate $10 million to the college if they can produce a man-powered flying machine, turns out to be a penniless lunatic who's escaped from a local mental institution.

Once again, Bud is being a real sourpuss Smile...I LOVE this movie and movies like it!

As near as I can tell, Annette was always SCREEN credited just as "Annette" during her Disney work. Sometimes, her full name would appear on the poster but, as in the case of THE MISADVENTURES OF MERLIN JONES, her on screen credit read simply: Annette. Same with BABES IN TOYLAND which showed only Annette on Screen.

When she worked for American International, her screen credit was Annette Funicello.

Here's the opening sequence of the wonderful MONKEY'S UNCLE:

Here. Try this. It might erase the MONKEY'S UNCLE theme.

Forgive me, Brent. I was perhaps a bit hard on "The Monkey's Uncle" and films of that kind.

On the positive side, we do get treated to splendid examples of Krell-inspired technology like this.
Very Happy

Arrrrrrrrgggggggggggggg!

Now I completely understand why my parents would not let me see either of these movies and encouraged me to go see Godzilla instead!

Randy, I want you to put on this portable Krell brain booster and click on the link below. It will permanently double your intellectual capacity and remove those annoying songs from your memory forever!

Trust me. Cool

And frankly you look parched. Perhaps you should hydrate.
Shocked

According to YouTube:
Quote:
This is the 1965 movie The Monkey's Uncle which was a sequel to 1964's The Misadventures of Merlin Jones. Same cast. Each film was actually two 45 minutes episodes (with separate plots) originally intended to air on Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color TV program as a 4-part series. They were released to theaters instead to take advantage of Annette's popularity in films.

Well, that explains why this film feels like two different movies stitched together. That's exactly what it is!

That must be a body double standing in for Annette on that poster.
