Even ardent serial fans will have a hard time enjoying this one. It's one of Republic's last efforts in the beloved continued-next-week tradition. The problem, as usual, was budget: too much stock footage from "Jungle Girl" (1941), too many rear projected monsters (lobsters), etc.
The "claw monsters" (created by hormone injections!) are concocted by mad scientist Arthur Space to guard his diamond mine from nosy natives and the prying eyes of hero Myron Healey and Phyllis Coates (the first TV Lois Lane in "Superman"), who is dressed to match the pilfered footage from "Jungle Girl". Directed by Franklin Adreon.
[Also released as: "The Claw Monsters"] _________________ ____________

Sample Panther Girl of the Kongo with chapter 1 - "The Claw Monster". The opening scene with the lovely mini-skirted gal swinging through the trees (and doing it as well as Johnny Weissmuller ever did) is impressive!
This is a side of Phyllis Coates we never saw in Superman!
