Patch Adams (1998)

We were watching this one again tonight. Since our last viewing it has acquired a double irony. Robin Williams plays the real-life Hunter "Patch" Adams. In the opening scenes of the film, Adams is seen committing himself to a psychiatric hospital (I turned on the captions so you can see what's being spoken in this scene)...



Later he signs out of the psych facility to enroll in medical school so he can help others. His roommate at medical school is played by Philip Seymour Hoffman.
