[Also released as "Surf Terror" and "Monster from the Surf"]
It isn't really a science fiction story, but it does have an aquatic creature. However, the creature turns out to be a hoax, a monster suit worn by a maniacal oceanographer who stalks and kills a group of teenagers. It was filmed in black & white with color sequences.
The oceanographer is played by Jon Hall ("Invisible Agent", "The Invisible Man's Revenge"), who also directed. Hall was a popular star in the 1940s, playing opposite Maria Montez in several Arabian Nights fantasies, including "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves" (1944). _________________ ____________

Well now, cats and kittens! Hang on to your swim trunks, 'cause here's the swingin' beach flick you've been waitin' for!
It's got surf, sand, sunshine, and screaming bimbos in bikinis! What more could you asked for . . . except maybe a Coke and a corn dog from the snack bar!
Now, sit back, relax, wrap your lovin' arms around your teenage honey, and enjoy the movie!

IMDB has several interesting trivia items for this production.
________________________________
~ Most of the interior shots - specifically all those of the Lindsay home - were shot at the Brentwood residence of Henry and Shirley Rose at 816 Glenmere Way in West Los Angeles. The Roses were friends of the producer, Edward Janis, with Shirley Rose also being the film's art director. The office scene was shot at the business office of Henry Rose.
Note from me: Nothing smooths out the production of a movie than having property owned by the producer and director be available for interior scenes which don't cost very much.
~ Copyright 1964 (completed April '64), the last screen appearance of actor Jon Hall, and the only feature he directed (also serving as Director of Photography).
Note from me: Poor Jon Hall starred in several Arabian Nights fantasies in the 1940s. This was a sad end for a 1940s screen idol.
~ According to the trailer for the film, the dancing girls seen in the movie are "The Watusi Dancing Girls" from Hollywood's Whisky a Go Go club on Sunset Boulevard.
Note from me: This would be considered a dubious honor, if true . . . and probably is NOT true.
~ This film is listed among the 100 Most Enjoyably Bad Movies Ever Made in Golden Raspberry Award founder John Wilson's book THE OFFICIAL RAZZIE® MOVIE GUIDE.
Note from me: I'm certain this is why the Classic Horror Film Board's Turkey Tuesday chat season on 8/31/21 chose it as the feature they spent several hours chatting about. They always have a wonderful time during their weekly chat seasons. _________________ ____________
