It's not exactly science fiction, but since it's not exactly anything else, watch this one to get a look at both an altered version of "The She Creature" monster suit and the man who designed it -- Paul Blaisdell. Blaisdell's suit was used in three other films as well.

The plot of this AIP cheapy involves a "haunted" mansion, a group of teenagers, a costume party, and a lot of rock 'n roll by the "Renegades". Blaisdell comes to the costume party wearing the monster suit, pretending to be a real monster, but the teens unmasked him, giving Blaisdell's fans a chance to see Blaisdell's face!

Directed by William Hole, Jr. I don't know who designed that very appealing poster, but it's actually quite good.

Saw this one in my beloved LeRose when I was ten or eleven (this is one of the few from those days for which I don't have a solid date of viewing.)

My friends and I were generally very tough on movies which "cheated" us. We were pretty ticked off that there was so little BEAST in BEAST OF HOLLOW MOUNTAIN. We were royally p.o.'ed that THE HEADLESS GHOST, with that great title, turned out to be a stupid comedy. And don't even get me started on CURUCU. I'm still mad about that one.

But for some reason, GHOST OF DRAGSTRIP HOLLOW -- as much a cheat as CURUCU really -- pretty much escaped our ire. I didn't really complain about the fake monster and I don't think any of my crew did either. Maybe it was because the movie itself was so disposable and unexciting that the cheat ending was no worse than what had come before.

Nowadays, it's really only the cheat ending that I enjoy. Now I know who that little guy is in the costume, and seeing him brings a bittersweet smile to my face.

I might watch that ending again right now. A little touch of Blaisdell in the night.

I actualy watched this movie from beginning to end. It was typical 50's teenage drive-in fodder---and I thought it was FAR OUT DADDY-O!

Blaisdell was the master of 50's monsters!

Not for all tastes, but great for those "coming up for air" times in the back seat!

The teenage "eye candy" was pretty sweet too!
