John Phillip Law (The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, Barbarella) stars as a daring, hi-tech super-criminal named Diabolik. He drives a black ultra-modern sports car, lives in a secret underground complex, wears jet-black form-fitting outfits, and makes love to his gorgeous partner (Marisa Mell) amidst a multi-million-dollar pile of stolen loot.

Diabolik is so cool and confident that absolutely nothing perturbs him. Example: at the end of the film, when lawman Michel Piccoli traps the wily Diabolik and turns him into a statue by encasing him in gold, Diabolik's gilded eyelids pop open and he winks at the camera just before the closing credits.

Comic legend Terry-Thomas is also featured in the cast. Directed by Mario Bava (Planet of Vampires).
