Thinking Outside the "Plot"!
________________________________

~ A Question for the Members: If Rachel and Deckard (both of whom are replicants, accord to Ridley Scott) have no limit to their life expectancy and are so completely "human" they can reproduce, what would they do after the story ends with them leaving together?

~ My Theory: The movie makes it plain that life on Earth sucks — and it sucks the worst for replicants. But Roy Batty talked about colonies on other planets, and battles in space.

So, the obvious thing for Roy and Rachel to do is head for a colony world, hide the fact that they're replicants . . and start a family! Very Happy

Obviously I'm suggesting an alternate story line to the one in Blade Runner 2049, in which Rachael died while give birth to Dekhard's daughter.

The sequel does in fact establish that the Wallace Corporate (who took over replicant creation after the Tyrell Corporation went bankrupt) was trying to rediscovering Tyrell's "lost" data which permitted replicants like Rachel to reproduce. She was a prototype, and we can only assume that Deckard was, too — possibly created by Tyrell to mate with Rahael and create replicant offspring.

Apparently Tyrell arranged for repliant-Deckard to replace the real Deckard. just to find out if he could fool everybody —including Deckard himself.

Watch the scene at the 13:00 mark when Deckard's boss, Bryan, is trying to get Deckard to come back as a Blade Runner, and Deckard says no. "I don't work here anymore."

We can surmise that the real Deckard quit the division which retired replicants, and at some point prior to the start of the movie, Tyrell kidnapped the man, replaced him, destroyed his body, and inserted replicant-Deckard into the dead man's identity.

The lost secret of how to make replicants who can reproduce was the focal point of Blade Runner 2049, but they didn't handle the idea very well, in my opinion.

So, I'm suggesting we put the pieces together in a better way by having Rachel and Deckard establish new identities, go to the most pleasant of the colony worlds, and convince everyone they're humans by becoming the proud parents of Rachael's unborn baby — a sure fire way to prove they ain't replicants in the eyes of practically everybody! Very Happy

The story would have them getting involved with the Replicant Underground (something also included in Blade Runner 2049) and discovering that there are labs on the colony which create replicants for the Wallace Corporation, to used as labor (etc.) in the colony.

One Wikipedia article I found states that the the Asian guy who made eyes, along with the quirky fellow who made hands and who befriend Darrell Hannah's character, were both replicants who made body parts for the Tyrell Corporation.

I can't confirm this from another sources, but suppose there were replicants in this off-world lab who were genetic engineers, and they have secretly discovered how to make replicants with open-ended lifespans and the ability to reproduce.

So, Deckard and Rachael ally themselves with a secret movement to create replicants with unlimited lifespans and the ability to reproduce, and a plan to have escape to an Earth-like planet where they'll establish a hidden all-replicant colony!

That's all I've got so far.

Gentlemen, this sounds like the middle movie of a great triology!
