The original added a young Tom Sawyer. A reviewer pointed out that, in real life Tom Sawyer would have been older than Quartermain. Laughing

Oh yeah, this is the movie that morphed Captain Nemo's Nautalus into the size of an aircraft carrier . . . and then had it sail through the canals of Venice.

Still a fun movie.

Before I say anything else, I like to thank Ralfy again for doing our homework for us and finding all these great articles with news of interesting projects still in production.

Ralfy, this is why you get to sit at the lunch table with the cool kids. Very Happy

Now, about LoEG (which spells LEGO if you spell things wrong the way I often do Very Happy ), I agree that the movie is marred by some unfortunate choices, story wise.

I think the thing that bothers us all the most is the fact that the mistakes it makes seem so obvious to anybody with a lick of sense -- and the people who made the movie certainly seem smart enough to avoid big, dumb screw ups like those!

It's really puzzling, because we see this happen in so many movies that could have been great.

I'm under the impression that the creative talents behind the movie planted tongues firmly and deeply in cheeks and went for BIG in-your-face fantasy. ("Hey, it ain't real. Why bother with any reality?")

The challenge of a female centric LOEG is who will they select?

The graphic novel & the film utilized male leads from 19th century sf/fantasy novels.

The culture at that time rarely, if ever, provided female protagonists in novels based upon sf or fantasy.

If they attempt to stick to that formula I'm afraid they will not be able to come up with many female leads based upon actual novels.

They could use Mina Harkness again. After that...

Maybe they should change the title to --

League of Politically Correct People.

Let's see,if I was putting together a brand new LOEG who might they be?

Have Mina Harkness return.

Lord Greystoke. Zorro. Lone Ranger & Tonto.
Frankenstein monster. Doc Savage.

Who would you pick for a sequel team?
