The last thing you expect from a Robin Williams movie is a grim story about a future society in which devices in everyone's heads record their memories, and "cutters" edit the memories after someone dies so they can be played as videos at the funeral — a happy montage of the person's life.
Weird idea for a movie, eh? Right. And here's the weird movie they made.
It isn't very enjoyable, and it doesn't have a very satisfying ending, so don't expect too much. _________________ ____________

I wondered what the trailer for this movie looked like, so I watched it. It wasn't a bit like what I expected.
It tries to make a very somber movie seem like fast-paced action piece — thereby giving the viewer all the wrong expectations.
I hadn't seen the trailer before I watched the movie, so my reasons for disliking it were just based on the fact that it has a muddled concept, an unpleasant slow pace, and a thin story that seems to hold out for a big ending right up to the point where the closing credits start rolling and you realize you've been cheated.
Since hindsight needs no glasses or contacts, we aren't surprised now about how sad and emotionless Robin Williams seems in this movie. William's suicide made us realize that Mork's zany high spirits required more acting on Williams' part than we gave him credit for.
But when I first saw the movie, I thought the casting of Williams was a puzzling blunder. Shows how much I know, eh?
