The Legend of Tarzan (2016) is a strange story;at least according to this article at Ain't-It-Cool News.

First of all, we know that trailers today are like posters back in the 1950s — they always promised the world, but the movies rarely delivered.

This one, however, is hard to watch with dropping your jaw over and over. It's got every image you ever visualized while reading an Edgar Rice Burroughs' novel — and then some.

It even shows Lord Greystroke sitting at a desk, drinking tea . . . and as he holds the gaze of the people watching him, he slowly lifts his pinkie. I love it.

I also love the fact that the plot takes place ten years after Tarzan has left Africa and is now living in London. He's invited to return to Africa for political reasons — which makes this story the reverse of the many poorly done versions we've endured over the years (Tarzan is found in the jungle and clashes with the greedy white men). Instead we get the wonderful "dual-personality" of Tarzan that Burroughs made us fall in love with in the novels.

He's the master of both worlds — the civilized and the savage.

And to prove it, he wears pants in the jungle, not a flapping loincloth that would guarantee fashion malfunctions during all those shots looking up at him swinging like Spider-Man!
Very Happy

There's a reason it's called a "loincloth" and not a "skirt". The skirt-like flaps we usually see are the hanging ends of a cloth wrapped under the crotch, then up and over a cord around the waist. The skirt, in effect, is the excess cloth acting as counterweights to keep the crotch portion held up snug and to prevent everything from slipping down through the waistband.

Counterweight? To keep the crotch portion held up? And this prevents everything from slipping down . . . through the waistband?

I had no idea that a loincloth had so much in common with a block-and-tackle!

Jane obviously didn't understand how this marvel of engineering worked!
Shocked

Sure she did. Same as Tarzan's. It's all one continuous piece of fabric/leather, front to back.
