Well, I finally got to see The Naked Monster today, and I laughed so hard I blew snot bubbles, I swear!

This is Ted Newsome's 20-year long film project which includes many of the actors we love from 1950s sci-fi classics. It's has quite of few truly hysterical moments.

Netflix has it for rent, and Amazon offers it for $44.94. I'm dropping hints to my friends and relatives to see if I can get it for Christmas.

I had a ball playing "spot the 50s references" all the way through it — things like the clever bits of 'borrowed" dialog the actors say, the audio clips of dialog from various movies (mostly Kenneth Toby in his three sci-fi movies), the music from all those beloved classics, and of course the legions of cameos by actors I've adored since I first landed on Earth in 1948 and began living among you puny humans.

As a 67-year-old Monsterkid who's seen every sci-fi classic multiple times, I was the perfect target audience. Therefore, Ted's movie definitely scored a bullseye. (A target joke. Sorry.)

Thanks, Ted! I heard that James Cameron is directing the sequel!
Very Happy

It's hellishly expensive on Amazon UK, for sure - which makes the US price seem like a bargain! It must be whatever the dvd equivalent of "out of print" is - you could buy six brand-new movies on blu-ray for the price, or thirty at the full discounted price some movies have reached.

Still, you do make it sound like fun! Smile

Here's some good news! Very Happy

The Naked Monster is now available on Amazon for only $9.99, with nice new box art, too.

Prior to this the DVD costs over $40.
