This 16MM amateur movie contained enough stop motion animation by David Allen and Jim Danforth to win itself a general release and a prerecorded tape.

The animation is not the best example of Allen's or Danforth's work, but it's still a must-see for animation fans.

The plot is undeniably thin, even for an amateur movie. It centers around two young couples on a picnic in a wooded area. They find an ancient book which causes a dimensional doorway to open and release two nightmarish monsters -- a flying devil and a huge alien-ape.







The young people realize what a danger the evil book presents, and they try to keep the monsters from retrieving it. The ending is a bit murky, a less-than-effective attempt to suggest a dire fate for mankind.

One of the stars is Frank Bonner of WKRP in Cincinnati fame (listed as Frank Boers, Jr). Directed by Mark McGee and Jack Woods.

The son of film actor Ed Begley, Ed Begley Jr. is the assistant cameraman on this film.

The original student version took two and a half years to make.

Originally a student film project by Dennis Muren.

Louis Clayton, who plays the old man in the cave, was the grandfather of Dennis Muren.

Fritz Leiber Jr. was cast through Forrest J. Ackerman.

Robert Lansing was initially considered to play Asmodeus in the theatrical version.
