Here's another couple of cleaned versions of your two prints Eadie.

Re: The Rocket Bourbon label.
Absolutely it looks like dark brown ink on a light brown label. But i'm sure the commercial version "back home" could very well look like the color one.

And, by the way, whiskey could be made anywhere, but ONLY Scotland can make "whisky" (Scotch).

Forgive me for saying it, Gord, but your versions are just as illegible as her version and mine. But we both appreciate your efforts. Very Happy

I added some interesting things to my post above after you read the first version and replied to it. Please go back and read it again to enjoy the stuff I added. Very Happy

Notice that the font used for the words "Ancient Rocket" is very different on the real ones than on the replica.

And the words "ANCIENT ROCKET" and "GENUINE" on the replica label are digitally (and somewhat ungracefully) distorted to fit the curved shape, while "BOURBON" is in a digitally stretched font. That wouldn't have been possible in 1956!

I have that picture also but Bonhams mislabeled it as the house blueprint.

It is the tunnel and lab set, (Cimpare it with the tunnel and lab set show in the Cinefantastique double issue for confirmation,)

By gum, you're right Eadie. It's so blurry we've wasted our time on it. I guess we should just move on.

You know there is another version of the bottles label.

Perhaps this is closer to the one used on the prop.

Here's a little better view of the label shown in FP.

You can see the circle representing a planet and the weathered scalloped border around the outside of the label.

Remember too, Robby produced the bourbon in pint bottles and labels could vary by bottle type. Keep in mind too Cookie carried this original bottle around with him for over a year and might have taken a bit of weathering during that time.

As to where the other bottles went......It's obvious!

Why do you think the Id Monster was so nasty?????

HE WAS DRUNK !

Robby's early days back on Earth. He doesn't sound quite himself.

Robby's voice changed again when he did this intro to a screening of FP for Royal Cinema.

That repro label is so off. The name is all uppercase ANCIENT ROCKET as opposed to the mixed case Ancient Rocket seen in the film. The "i" might even have a star as the dot. The letters in the film labels are also shaded like chromed letters, with red only at the top. I think those might be rockets or gantries to either side of the word BOURBON.

Unless they had some deal with a distiller, the bottles were probably filled with something like tea, which is frequently used to stand in for brown liquors in film and TV. Incidentally, the bottles also resemble a 1956 Old Forester Bonded, 1/2 Pint, which has a short neck.

According to this site (LINK) "The uniform jacket was later dyed chocolate brown from its original gray (Credit: Bonham's)", so perhaps screen-used and later dyed for a different film or TV show.
