Just to keep All Sci-Fi rockin' n rollin' with new posts, here's a whimsical thought I'm sure will generate a few replies.

Which props from Ray Harryhausen's movies would you like to have on you mantel or bookcase, just to give your place a bit of extra pizazz! Very Happy

We all know that I love those sci-fi knickknacks which populate the mantel over my own fireplace —

— two of which are gifts from Gord Green, and one is a Christmas card from Mrs. Tim Edwards, the late Bulldogtrekker's wife.

But if I had a large home like Forry Ackerman's, what Harryhausen props might I own and place on display. (For this discussion, let's stick to items other than Harryhausen's animation models.)

Here's a few I with I had. I know we all wonder how many of these items still exist.
________________________________

From 20 Million Miles to Earth

~ The model of that magnificent spaceship. Yes, I know, it's an "animation model", but he only animated it plummeting down to the ocean, and it would look great hanging in my living room with these two ships! Cool

________________________________

From The 7th Voyage of Sinbad

~ The magic lamp. This one is an obvious choice. I wonder what it was made of. Confused

~ The "crystal ball" — that large glass sphere that filled with smoke, which Sakura the magician had in his lair. (Or his laboratory. Oh hell, let's call it a lair-boratory . . . )

~ The ornate box in which Princess Persia was kept while she was Sinbad's "little woman" (even though they weren't married. Funny idea, huh? Laughing)
________________________________

From Mysterious Island

~ The model of the Nautilus. It's a really a great design!

~ Beth Rogan's deerskin mini-skirt . . . for my girlfriend to wear when we watch this movie together. Wink

____________

~ The copy of The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe which was in the trunk which Nemo sent to the castaways.
________________________________

From Jason and the Argonauts

~ The Golden Fleece. This one would be best displayed by hanging it on a wall. Or maybe on the floor in front of my fireplace. The ultimate "bear skin rug"! Very Happy

~ The "brooch pin/javalin" that Hercules stole from Talos' treasure chamber. I could carry it around to discourage muggers! (Then again, it might encourage muggers. On second thought, maybe I shouldn't carry it around . . . Sad)

~ The normal-sized chess set that Hera and Zeus were using. I don't think their Olympian version of chess had the same rules as our Earthly one does. Confused

~ The large-sized chess pieces we see around Jason on the giant chess board. Maybe I could build an Olympian chess board in my yard and have my friends play the game on summer evenings while I cooked hamburgers on the grill. Cool

~ The discus that Hercules and Hylas throw at the rock

~ Hermes' winged helmet
________________________________

From First Men in the Moon

~ The model of the cavorite sphere

~ The model of the lunar command module and lunar lander

_______________________________

From Valley of Gwangi

* Sorry, I got nothing for this one. It's your turn, folks!
________________________________

From The Golden Voyage of Sinbad

~ The golden "map" that Sinbad pieced together
________________________________

From Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger

* Again, I drew a blank. Help me, help me! (As The Fly said . . . )
________________________________

From Clash of the Titans

~ That beautify sword that Zeus gave Perseus

~ Ditto for the mirror-finish shield. I could hang it in my bathroom and use it when I shaved! Very Happy

~ The tiny figures which Zeus kept of various mortals
________________________________

Well, that's my list of Harryhausen collectibles._

I hope I've left a few for you guys to think of. But even if you can't add to the list, I hope you'll comment on which ones are your favorites and what you'd do if you owned them.

Give it shot, guys.

After all, All Sci-Fi could use more activity to keep our mysterious 30+ "guests" entertained each day! You'll see the current number of guests listed at the bottom of the main index.

I don't know who they are, but we always have between 30 and 60 — so we must be doing something right around here! Shocked

My wants are much more obvious. Most are rather basic, but also iconic.

First...The Ymir....possibly the very best of Ray's designs....

And the GREAT spaceship from that movie....

And the cyclops...Oh the Cyclops! Possibly the first of Ray's creatures to really hit me!

And TALOS! from JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS !

Lastly....a bit of a surprise...BUBO from TITIANS !

Excellent selections Bruce.

As a huge fan of Ray's films, here are others I would also choose.

7th Voyage of Sinbad. Giant crossbow model.
Spiral staircase Sinbad and the skeleton sword fight on.

Mysterious Island. Escape hot air balloon.

First men in the Moon. Giant crystals with liquid inside them which were utilized to create oxygen (I think).

Jason and the Argonauts. Discus Hercules throws. Shields of skeleton army.

Valley of Gwangi. The full size wooden wagon cart and full size mock-up of Gwangi.

Golden Voyage of Sinbad. The Vizier's Golden mask.

Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger. Metal sphere of the Minaton.

Clash of the Titans. Bubo. Medusa's Bow & arrows.

And last but hardly least: Beth Rogan, Honor Blackman & Nancy Kovack, Martha Hyer, Raquel Welch & Martine Beswick, Gila Golan, Caroline Munro, Taryn Power & Jane Seymour, and Ursula Andress & Judi Bowker.

And don't tell me you didn't think of the same thing Bud.

Excellent choices for our imaginary All Sci-Fi Museum of Science Fiction Memorabilia! Cool

However, concerning this comment —

Geez, Mike . . . for Pete's sake, just pick two for a nice "three way"!

A three-way is sexy in a tasteful sort of way. But more than three is an orgy, and remember what happen to the Roman Empire when they went that route! Shocked

Just for the record, for my own "double date, minus one" I choose Miss Rogan and Miss Hyer.

My apologies, sir. I stand corrected! Embarassed

That way you get two nights of pleasure instead of just one. Very Happy

(By the way, I added the images above before I realized you'd replied after I'd submitted an incomplete post and then edited it. Sorry.)

In addition to these aircraft I have in my living room —

— I'd love to have a ceiling display of models showing this.

I made this image to illustrate my idea for a sequel to EvsTFS. It would be called Earth USES the Flying Saucers — like, the ones that crashed and we repaired them! Very Happy
______________________________________________

I'd also like to own the "Gizmo", which we see in this scene from Earh vs the Flying Saicers.

______________________________________________

But what I'd really like to own is the "enhanced" version we see Forbidden Planet!

______________________________________________

And final, how 'bout the miniature of the Golden Gate Bridge and the animation model of the giant Octopus Vulgaris?

I could put this one my fireplace mantle and place a background photo behind it like the one Ray used in the movie. Very Happy

Guys, I know what you're thinking. Cool

"Bud's gonna need a bigger house . . . " Confused
