For a sci-fi lovin' eight-year-old kid, this one was mesmerizing. Back in 1956 I was convinced that powerful telescopes would allow us to see close-up views of life on other planets, but never in my wildest dreams (and I had some wild ones) did I imagine it was possible to look through a microscope and see images of prehistoric creatures imprinted on tiny crystallized mineral fragments!

_

A scientist played by Gene Lockhart (the lovable judge from Miracle on 34th Street) uses a powerful new microscope to examine tiny fragments of the fused glass from the site of an A-bomb test, and he's shocked to find an image of the explosion etched into the crystal sample.

_

He discovers that images like this are embedded in thousands of samples, and some of these show prehistoric landscapes and creatures from millions of years ago!

_

_

But when he tries to show his discovery to his scientific colleagues, they're unable to see the amazing images!

_

Watch this episode on YouTube at the link below and enjoy the solution to this well presented scientific mystery.
Very Happy

I don't know if you've ever seen Horror Express, but there's a plot point about seeing animals and things in the gunk in an ape-man's eye.

A part of the "SHAVER MYSTERY" has to do with rock print images. Richard Sharpe Shaver cut stones and polished the surfaces to reveal images from the past.

If your not familiar with the Shaver Mystery check it out by Google search and Youtube search. It's WILD !

Richard S Shaver was almost as prolific as L. Ron Hubbard and the theories he professed are almost as crazy as Scientology !

I have all those pulps you show above and a lot more and they are extremely interesting.

Ray Palmer was also the man responsible for the "flying saucer' phenomena during the fifties when he hired Kenneth Arnold as a reporter. Ray went on to publish FATE magazine and some UFO publications.

Ray was also a 3 ft tall dwarf with a giants imagination!

Shaver and Ray Palmer (Can you see why Julie Schwartz used him as the "ATOM"s alter ego in DC Comics!

YouTube has a number of episodes from this great show, and the picture quality suggests that they're from the restored DVDs sold by Shout Factory.
